@nd
Hi all. I have a question for the gunsmiths on this forum. I have a British made left handed multi calibre rifle with a magnum bolt face. At present they do not make a left handed .308 bolt for this rifle. A right handed .308 bolt was available from the start. I know that it is possible to open a bolt face up to change calibre from .308 to a magnum, but is it possible to go the other way and reduce the bolt face from a magnum to a .308 and what would be a ball park cost . Thanks Andrew
bradders
Yes it is possible, but getting someone to do it for you may be a bit more of a challenge, I currently don't know of anyone with the facilities to affix a ring, either by silver soldering or similar, you may also be required to have the extractor reset....and I haven't even mentioned the "P" word yet 🤔 It may not be cost effective, but it is most certainly doable
Akeld
Try Les Bacon, I understand he's now working through Gardeners guns. I know he can and has done it, but not sure if he would take it on now
