You should. Best fun you can have with a rifle, and one of the most challenging.

Civ SR continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, average attendances so far this season are 124 with new blood attending every match

While not popular on this forum and with the management (for reasons I really don’t understand) it is the fastest growing discipline in the U.K. and is now close to reaching max capacity...,something other disciplines would wish of theirs!!!

Now in its 20th year and Offering multi positional shooting without any cobblers attached and a league comprising of 15 rounds spread over 7 months and a National Championship competition in July over 5 days, inc team matches

I tried to get UKV to enter a team to take part in the Methuen Match (the oldest team competition in any sport in the world) and support their forum, but got derided and ridiculed by the site owner...who really isn’t a shooting man anyway....but we move forward

It will never be popular on here because people aren’t interested in Labradars, Gaypods of  the month or using the favorite UKV terms of “Square-On Range” and “Sub” as in sub sub-moa

But never mind, the next match is on Sun 3 Feb and we already have 48 entries, perhaps if we introduced shooting your rifle sideways off a milk churn or pallet then some of you might actually see there is fun to be had....30 mins from Central London

Almost a pity not to allow people to shoot it with a military calibre round even if using multiple magazines, not to count in the final scores but to just have a go before making an investment.

David.

You can shoot it with whatever you want?  Practical Optic class is anything goes,  Service Optic is 5.56/.223 or 7.62/.308 only

Sounds fun but I don't have a qualifying rifle.

David.

You don't need a 'Black Rifle' to shoot CSR. You can use any rifle, calibre, and a bipod in practical optic class. A 10 round mag is ideal but you can manage with 2, 5 rounders.

I've done the last two Imperial championships and I'm currently shooting the Winter league with just a Tikka T3 varmint.

I've always been, and will always be primarily a field shooter (Vermin, deer ECT), but shooting CSR is immense fun and has improved my shooting skills no end, especially positional and shooting with an increased heart rate whilst under pressure.

The CSR crowd are a great bunch with everyone willing to help out fellow shooters and I feel privileged to shoot along side so many great shots. I've been shooting for over 30 years and I'm still learning from every CSR match.

For any newcomer, make it known that it's your first time and you should be squadded with an old hand who, on a 1:1 supervision basis  in EVERY shot/practice, will make sure you're looked after and all safety drills are explained as many times as you need and are adhered to.  We put our (commonsense) drills uppermost in our activities to ensure safety is never compromised.    It's not as if they're complicated or anything, we just make sure we adhere to best practice for obvious reasons.

If you've a 10 shot mag, you're in to the most fun and challenging day going!
