Changing factory ammo

Hi,

I have only ever used one brand of factory ammo through my 223. If I fancy a change and didn't re-zero what kind of variation would you expect from a new brand sub-inch or off the paper? Theoretical question.

Too many variables to give an answer. You must check your rifle with the new ammunition.

+1 what 17 rem said , nobody can answer your question, you will have to check differant ammunition for your rifle, to see what suits ,in general your point of impact would change with other ammunition, unless your a lucky bugger.

Has anybody shot in the cold weather that we have had recently ?

as I have found with the ammo of clover leaving to all poi to the right until the barrel warmed up?

it would be nice if you could buy a few of each brand ammo like in the states thats what i did over there

Buy a box of 20, shoot a few. If they aren't what you want, shoot the rest off for fun and try another box.

I would think you would still be on paper. Get a decent sized sheet of paper, say about 20in x20in and put a dot in the centre and fire a shot. I'd be very surprised if you didn't hit the paper.

My rifle is zeroed with GGG 69gr match and when I briefly tried 62gr milsurp it was only 2 moa out.

Thats how it is , theres no other way of finding out whats best , no one said rifle shooting is cheap.

Then stick to your tried and tested round of choice, especially If it still works as you want it to.
