Out of interest, what's currently the most popular or common shooting activity participated in by the UKV-regular?

I don't know much about the various target shooting disciplines so apologies for offending anyone by missing them out and including them in 'other' !

I know many will do more than one activity, please vote for what accounts for the majority of your trigger time.

I think many like myself will have a mix of competitive shooting (be that what it may) and sport (stalking, professional culling / vermin control et al)

dont think you can pigeonhole this really ?

I know nothing of the NRA Centenary Armitstice Match events but curious to know why all the hate for it Bradders?!?

I don’t hate it, I love it...and that’s why I entered...unlike UKV members who must obviously hate it, as not one of you has entered what will be an absolutely fantastic day

could it be because Quickload doesn’t have any data for the .303, or because people on here aren’t really shooters but merely meplat trimming case annealers?

the match is commemorating our Grandfathers and Gt Uncles etc, why wouldn’t anyone want to take part in that?

BTW, it’s full now

I really wanted to shoot the Armistice match partly for the match and partly because Ian McCollum is shooting it and I wanted to meet him. Sadly health issues prevent it.

Ian is indeed shooting it...and coming 5200 miles to do so

Some people can't even make it from Bath!

I really hope it goes well. As an avid Enfield fan I would have loved to attend, especially with Gun Jesus in attendance! I’ve got family commitments that day which mean I can’t attend but I know what you mean Bradders, sometimes I’m in a minority of one when it comes to talking 303!

At the very least we should all spend a few minutes in quiet reflection on the 11th to consider the sacrifices made that enable our freedoms today.

As some of you may know, earlier this year I was fortunate enough to be given some family memorabilia following the passing of my Uncle, and am now the extremely proud keeper of these artefacts
So at the match I will be using the opportunity to represent two individuals and Regiments

Grandad Cpl Michael Bradley 13897 6th Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers
Gt Uncle Pte James Bradley 25036 Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers

Michael served in the Gallipoli campaign, the Balkans and also on the Western Front
He was gassed and eventually discharged on 11 Jan 1918 as no longer fit for War Service
He was a Sniper  :;-)  (seriously, it’s documented)
Michael died in 1940 due to the effects of the gassing and other illnesses

James joined up in July 1915 and left for France in Nov of the same year
He was wounded on the 2nd day of the Battle of the Somme (Battle of Albert) with injuries described as "Bomb wounds to the face and neck"
He was sent to Hospital in England to recuperate and played no further role
He was discharged on 8-4-18 as no longer fit for War Service
James was shot dead in 1921

I have my Grandads medals and both their discharge papers, along with cap badges I acquired, and the wound strip, thanks to Roy W for that and also assistance with research

I will have their memorabilia with me on the day.
The R Irish museum tells me the discharge papers are like gold dust, and to have both is unprecedented after 100 years, plus for the most part their records survived the Blitz, so I am very fortunate

Very sad reading that and the trench pictures, sends a shiver up the spine. You must be very proud of them mark.

More than I can put into words actually

Many of us have relatives long gone that did likewise, I'm fortunate that I have these artefacts, but I'm sure most of us could tell similar stories given the opportunity
