Jock308
Hi Guys Hope someone can help, my club has 100m fullbore range and i would like to use scaled down targets to simulate 200m and perhaps 300m, DP1, DP2, Fig 12 and Huns heads. If a target is say 6 inch bull at 100m what is the simulated size for 200m is it as simple as 50% or is there some maths involved? Thanks Jim
VarmLR
It doesn't quite work like that but you can just scale accordingly. The results on paper will never be the same since affects of wind, ES, technique etc mean that shooting 1 inch groups at 100 doesn't replicated 2" groups at 200 for that reason. Accuracy tends to open up with distance due to the environmental and external ballistics factors at play. Best you can do is just to scale down the targets as you suggest and use them for practice, or use the standard size and zoom your scope out to get them to half their apparent size compared with your "normal" zoom setting ;-). You can't really simulate 200 or 300m shooting except by shooting 200 or 300m. You can only simulate the target size at 100 as it might appear further out.
