UKBRA - SUNDAY 4th MARCH 600yard COMPETITION .....CANCELLED

As many across the UK will expect, due to adverse weather conditions at both Diggle and across most parts of the UK Sunday’s competition is cancelled.

We’re making the decision early so all can plan their weekends AND information suggests conditions may well deteriorate even further over the weekend.

It is appreciated that for some conditions might not seem too bad, but for the majority that is not the case and travel, except in urgent cases, is still not recommended across most of the UK. We need to take a responsible and holistic approach.

Looking at the Diggle calendar it looks like it will be extremely difficult to reschedule the competition to any date in the near future, hence this year’s championship will be decided on the “best 3 out of the 5” shoots completed, as we have done in the past went we’ve lost a shoot.

Apologies to those who hoped a good day on Sunday might have boosted their overall position, there is always next year.

Congratulations to this years winners, who’ll be formally announced later.

Keep warm and especially SAFE.

We had to cancel/postpone our CSR competition for tomorrow as well

Roads on Ash Ranges are impassible, so there's no way an emergency vehicle could attend if req'd, plus too many people having to travel long distances at unnecessary risk!!

There's always another day though and we have been rescheduled :-)

Better to fight another day than risk life and limb

Guys - I went up to Diggle Range today.  The good news - the farmer has cleared the access road so absolutely no access problem for those hoping to shoot the the CSR match this coming Saturday or the Tactical on Sunday.

Could we have run the 600 yard benchrest shoot today?  Well yes - except that it was so misty you couldn't see the targets - so, good call Bruce!

Ha! Ha! You can hardly see the D Range shed 200 yards away never mind the targets.

(Looks a mite chilly too, but since Mole-e30 and his BR HG match winning daughter Emily are currently spending their nights in an igloo built in their garden - really, I'm not kidding here, mad as a barrel of frogs :) - they'd likely shoot even better than usual when surrounded by melting snow and in below freezing temperatures.)

Hi Bruce,

Just a thought...... If you’d normally discount 2 of the 6 rounds, wouldn’t it be easier to count the cancelled round as 1 of the 2; thereby you would count 4 of the first 5 rounds that have been shot???

This is only my opinion, but it seems under the rules you are looking to implement, you will be discounting 50% of the competition....!!!!

No offence intended, but it was something I’d just thought of.

Cheers. Paul

Ok Vince. It’s not a problem. I just wondered if there was an alternative. But rules are rules, so onwards and upwards to the 1,000 yard season. We can come back next year and do the 600 all over again. ?
