Reloading with Rosie

LONG RANGE CAPT

Recommended Posts

The advice given by the likes of Vince, Laurie and Stuart on the show is great and useful, however the fault of this is entirely at the door or Edgar Bros / Hornady.

The contributors simply have a job to do, and having watched the technical content you do it very well and in an informative way, hats off to you.

I have no problem with using Rosie as a person, it shows that someone who clearly has no shooting background can learn this and be taught, what I have the massive issue with is the sexualisation of our sport..... There simply isnt any need for it.

At what point does wearing "hot pants" make you shoot or reload any better....... Quite simply it doesnt, it's just using the term sex sells.

My beef with this is, what sort of message does it send out to people wanting to join or sport..... The wrong one.

Shooting has to some degree already got a bad press of being "elitist", for old men, etc etc, this doesnt help at all.

We are trying to get more women into the sport and young people.... my good lady took one look at this last night and hit the roof for the reasons above.

Well Bruce - Edgar Brothers had to offer some sort of incentive to get us there and make fools of ourselves!

But seriously, I take your point.  The world has changed massively in the last few months - what with Formula One swapping grid girls for kids.

Reloading with Emily anyone?

While you talk about attracting more women into the sport, this is the only one of the shooting forums I frequent that doesn’t have a single female member to my knowledge

This set of videos is harmless enough so let’s not go reading too much into it, there’s more people who would enjoy it than be offended, so no need to be overly prudish

There’s a whole push being driven by the media to cut this out and show equality etc, but in light of the recent shenanigans in Hollywood, isn’t it just a bit ironic that the women there are still quite happy to have an Oscar for Best “Actress”?

if you want to attract and keep women in the sport then it’s better to get the male members of some shooting clubs to show a bit more tact and decorum and spend less time being inappropriate when female members are around

now.....back to the lathe

Mark, I am sure I have seen you in a dress... :-)

You probably have Ewen but I try to avoid reloading these days

We have around 7 Ladies who shoot CSR on and off although a couple of them do attend every match, and we have also had the idea of giving the Darts walk on girls a job escorting us out onto the firing point at upcoming matches, which all the guy are up for :-)

My thoughts exactly, Edgars have obviously put some thought and budget into this, and have also for once picked individuals with actual knowledge to participate and share. I just think its sad that rather than choosing one of the ladies who genuinely do shoot/reload, they chose some piece of crumpet in hot pants and a load of crap innuendos.

Its a light hearted video that some can learn something from , Rosie is happy to do it and gets paid no doubt, those who are are offended by it dont have to watch it.

Exactly.  A bit of light hearted fun with good info at the same time and I 'm surprised at some of the somewhat prudish comments on here....

Nail on head.

I wouldn't take my wife to one of my club shoots because the language and attitude is, lets just say, distinctly "men only" .

For the same reason, I wouldn't take my son, who I'd like to, because I don't want the young fella introduced to the sort of language and example that's often expressed there.  That's the real issue for me, not a bit of harmless fun with really a very good technical content such as Reloading with Rosie.  That lady made a choice and chooses to do what she does.  I'm, not saying that I'm entirely comfortable with it, because I'm not.  It's a little too "yesterday" for me and just smacks of so manyYou Tube productions in a similar ilk from the States which use sex to sell guns and shooting (lets be honest about this).  It's unnecessary and could have been better served if the young lady wore something more appropriate.  This isn't about being a prude.  It's about upholding the sort of standards where our young children and wives feel more welcomed into the sport.

There's a serious note here.  I see shooting a little like I see my hifi hobby (and business).  It appeals mostly to men of a certain age (although shooting will always appeal to a lot more young men than analogue hifi) but without a more inclusive attitude by us all, it is destined to shrink back.  I take a look around at my range days and most people attending are 40 plus years of age.  We should be attracting all ages and more ladies into the sport, but with some of the neanderthal attitudes about, that's not going to happen.

I will now reload wearing some sexy gold lame hot pants.    Watch out men my reloading will be so improved I will kick butt at the next shoot.    Mind,  they are a little tight in certain areas and I squeak when I walk.    But it will be worth it.

I personaly think the ' Rosie ' will attract a lot more teenagers into the art of reloading

than a ' Mary whitehouse ' ever would :D

likewise, I'd rather my son spend hours harmlessly watch & learning via Rosie, than playing on his Xbox or some other YouTube channels , but that's just my view.

i can't see the reason why a seasoned Reloader would want to watch this anyway, as no doubt they can pick up more tricks off a Forum, but that's another format that screams ' pipe & slippers ' to the teenage masses.

Who has been talking,  that is a closely guarded secret?????      Word has it that the programme will only be on pay per view channels so get your credit cards out boys and watch the master at work!      Reloading obviously!

I dont see the need for the lack of clothing by the presenter.....

And I dont mean Vince, Laurie or Stuart..... Seriously what do hot pants add to our sport other than an attempt to sell more kit.

I'm sure Rosie is a lovely person, but really!

What do you mean, lack of clothing? I thought it was PPE in case of "flash burns"!

I`d disagree if its anything like my club.yes we f and blind , take the piss out of each other in in good humour but as soon as a female turns up the bad language stops  , same as many work places.

Its more likely women dont want to join gun clubs because too many are full of boring stuffy old farts with no sense of humour  ......just  saying like :)

We'll agree to disagree then.  Nowt wrong with my sense of humour nor that of anyone mentioning  standards, the mere mention of which seems to elicit  schoolboy sniggering, pointing fingers, and name calling in some quarters. You don't have to be a prude or a humourless git to say that the base standards, and foul language of some should be acceptable or are a healthy environment for kids or some women.   Like your experience, one of the clubs I regularly attend are a pretty decent bunch and they'd react exactly as you suggest.  One of the others has characters who wouldn't.  Just saying like ;)

If you just sat vince , laurie , stuart, and mike round that table talking about reloading and what they have found to be good or bad etc with a bit of show and tell i think with there collective knowledge you would have made just about the best reloading video on the web.
