Villadave59
Hi, Looking for advise/tips installing a new scope and mount,I have a 34mm spuhr mount and a Steiner M5XI scope,in the manufacturers instructions it recommends using a fine coat of rosin resin powder to the inside of the rings,I have mounted scopes to rifles in the past but have no experience of using "rosin" so would be gratefull of any advice on type and ease of removal should I ever change ,also would it clean off ok without damage to the finish ,cheers Dave . Scotch_egg
I have used a couple of spuhr mounts and have never used rosin. No detriment in use.

lee w 118
Hi there if split scope mount in half, and use black electric tape on the inside of the sphur mount were the scope sits in,you will have no ring marks off the mount on your scope once you decide to remove. I do this on all my scopes works for me and saves you crying when you take the scope off to sell or clean Regards Lee

Andrew
Rosin will not bind the scope to the rings making it difficult to remove. It causes an adhesion when under pressure. Nothing that can't be removed easily. I use rosin in my barrel blocks when I am having a difficult time removing and action. ~Andrew
