Malinois
Hi, other than continual experimenting is there any definitive way of telling how long the length of pull should be on a rife that will mostly be shot prone? Ian
aam
I use the shot gunners method for my rifles. It works well for me. 1. Stand with your arms at your sides.2. Bend your shooting arm at the elbow and hold it at a 90-degree angle with your palm facing up. At this point, your arm should be parallel to the ground, palm open and fingers pointing forward.3. Have your assistant use the tape measure to measure the distance from the inside crook of your elbow to the first (outer-most) joint on your shooting finger. Even though this measurement is between your finger and your elbow, as opposed to your finger and your shoulder whereit will mount, it is an accurate measurement of your true LOP.Tip.Subtract 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch from the LOP measurement if you plan to use the shotgun while wearing heavy clothes or a winter jacket. Malinois
Thanks. I will have a bash. Looking at German Gun Stocks and mentioned I was concerned about LOP amd they said they will make and fit whatever spacer I need but having muddled through with slip on pads all these years I wanted to be a bit more precise. Breacher
Back in LIA1 days in the Army - I was measured by holding rifle in hand using pistol grip with stock running along inside of forearm - back of stock should make contact with the interior 90 degree angle of your elbow joint.
