James 1 Posted February 5, 2017 Author Report Share Posted February 5, 2017 I have made a load up with the Hornady sp and the Berger vld hunting bullet as I couldn't find any info using the sierra spbt, I will post my finding. BlueBoy69 Posted February 5, 2017 Report Share Posted February 5, 2017 Going by Western Powders' 2016 reloading manual, use can use Ramshot Hunter with the 260 Remington. It states a startling load of 39.2 grains and a maximum of 43.5 grains with the Hornady 140 grain SP. This is 1.257" long and a flat base bullet. The Sierra 140 grain SPBT you mention is a bit longer (1.270") and a boat tailed. Putting both into QuickLOAD, it's the Hornady that actually generates the higher pressure at the same seated depth (2.795"). If you stick with the Hornady data, starting at the minimum charge lelvel, you should be fine.PS I don't know how the bearing surfaces compare, which is another pressure factor.
