69 grain TMK vs 77 grain TMK

Recommended Posts

Hi I was just wondering if it would be any advantage changing to the 69 grain TMK over the 77 that I am using now.

My thinking is I could push the 69 faster, but would this result in more spectacular kills on winged vermin.

in my opinion, if your happy with the load you are using stick with it, go spend your hard earned money on more 77 tmk,s, if you want spectacular blow ups on winged quarry go to 50 gr vmax I get the right bullet and load and stick with it ,coz you will end up with boxes of bullets on the shelf cheers dave.

My rifle will not shoot the 69gn but the 77gn are superbly accurate. The 69s are all over the place even though the same weight from other manufacturers work fine.

So if you get some to try, don't get a lot just in case.

Stick with the 77's if they are accurate. The extra BC against the 69's will give you more consistency in tricky winds and at longer ranges.

69's are gaining a bit of a reputation for being a little barrel fussy. It took me ages developing a load and seating depth that work for my rifle with them and velocity increase over 77's isn't significant at all, so if you have a good load for the 77's, my advice would be to stick with those. Any small advantage in velocity is likely offset by the 77's better BC anyway once out past 200 yds.

Hi all I have a Remington SPS tactical in 223 with 1-9 20" barrel. Once T8 moderator is screwed on there's No barrel.

Question I want to use 77 gr Bullets and have hodgson 335 powder .

Any one have a recommended load ?

Using Lapua brass, but looking for small rifle primers

Cheers Nick

77s are unlikely to stabilise in a 1:9. If you try them then don't do it with the moderator on or you'll risk a baffle strike.
