The Gun Pimp
Well Swarovski, I started competitive benchrest shooting when I was 50. Prior to that, it was Target Rifle, Practical Rifle and a bit of pistol. One day, you just have to get out of (the) Bath, set your satnav for Diggle and enter a comp. The guy who got me started in benchrest was Terry Love - he lived in Bath but traveled all over the world to shoot benchrest - including Diggle. That doesn't sound like a young 50! A 308Win took top score at the Fly Shoot.

Flatbadget
I shot the fly shoot on my 63rd birthday until 18 months I thought 300 yards was a long way, shot most of my life shotguns and rifles. I am still shooting 100 yards but now out to a thousand should have done it years ago trying to make up for lost time. Shot the fly and Mike M only beat me by 9 thou on the smallest group. Not only is he a good shot but he introduced me to long range shooting and we now shoot together.
