rem 700 stainless action ?

was looking at a 700 .223 rifle (for the action) it has a matt grey original finish are these a genuine stainless actions - was sold new as one

Mine is a bead blasted stainless action. All the stainless ones I've seen are genuine stainless.

If it was like that from new it must be stainless as I don't think remington made rifles with any type of grey coating on them.

Stainless or polished steel?

 

There's a couple of models with the polished action from the current range, SPS stainless & VTR SS both .223 models

Yeah my floor plate is the same.

It is some sort of alloy but it does the job.

You can buy stainless floor plates but they are quite expensive.

This 'alloy' of which you speak: what is it ? Most metals in common use are alloys.

 

Steel is an alloy of iron.

 

Did you mean 'aluminium' ?

 

Aluminium is a pure metal.

 

Unless it has been alloyed, in which case, it will be something like 7075, 2019, 6082. It matters.
