rem700
When I have had new barrels fitted I usually Make up a dummy round with the bullet I want to use And I seat it as much in the neck as I can so I can chase the lands as the throat wears ,but 10 tho away from doughnut formation area so I can come back to achieve 10 tho off the lands if I need it and my smith will throat it to that Paul
Swarovski1
That all sounds fine but what if the bullet doesn't shoot at 10 fow off and it shoots best at 50 off.you would reduce room in the case and create more pressure
rem700
True yes you would but personally I wouldn't seat my Bullets past the doughnut area( bearing surface that is ) happy to let the boat tail go past that line . As carnt be bothered to remove them if they occur and the research that I did on my preferred Bullet for each build A lot of folk online found there best accuracy in the lands so this is were I would be looking/ testing This is only my opinion, but every build/ rebarrel I have had done they all worked out very well and were very very accurate All the best Paul
