as far as round go for long range target shooting is 6.5 x 47 the way to go?

The 6.5x47 is OK but what do you mean by long range?


If you're intending to shoot 1000yd F Class for example, not many would choose the 6.5x47 but, if you already have a 6.5x47 then by all means give it a go.

As the gun pimp said it's not exactly a long range round , probably better with a 284 win or a shehane , not exactly had on barrels and good bullet availability. I had a 47 for my first f class rifle . All I can say is you need to study the wind flags a lot lot more to score well
