Guest varmartin
Awesome looking rifles Ronin, the machining for those invisible thread protectors could be better though ..not Very well put together , they should be screamers for sure. Elwood
Stunning Andy, especially the Bat in the Manners. The barrel in the Manners looks rather large? and what is Kal going to do to it?
Ronin
Well,,,,,,, as I have a couple of Surgeons on the way to complement the BAT, I kind of thought that this scheme would be nice. The BAT is for comps and has replaced the AI AW, now I have more time......supposedly

Elwood
well smart whats the barrel profile on the the black one? good job Andy I'm going to take a guess at a Sendero or Rem varmint profile? but I'm more interested in the profile of the truck axle on the Manners? Guest varmartin
Ronin...I am very interested in the crown on both rifles, especially the heavy manners. I noticed you have gone for a 90` crown when most would opt for an 11`degree target job. How did you finish the cut at the rifling ? Some may be aware it is best to `shoot` the crown in to avoid cutting that last little bit. I have zero experience with lathe work so be gentle please The reason I ask is that the crown on my Musgrave is a 90 ` degree and it appears to have been lapped in as there is no evidence of a counter bore finish on the crown.? JR__
well done Andy they both look very nice,it comes to something when you have to buy your own lathe to build you own rifle and then is quicker than a certain so call smith over the water in the father land I look forward to seeing there performance, which I no dought will be better than the rubbish thats has been sent just lately Hey look guys, it's Funky Bunch doing his best to ruin another good thread!!! Ronin
Thank you for all your kind comments. I will try and answer all questions as they were put: Skany the barrel profile on the Predator action is a standard Rem Sendero - this rifle was supplied in component form by a mate who didnt want to wait for 9 months for a professional to do the job - all I have done is do the barrel work and put it together. Ian I would give the game away if I told you what the profile is, as I too am extremly interested to see how two rifles with exactly the same chamber will perform with different make of barrels. (All I will say for now is that it is a straight taper ) Funky thanks, I have always had more than a passing interest in rifles and riflesmithing and this is the next stage (for me) at present it remains a hobby (albeit very expensive to set up - bit like women I suppose ) Varmartin crown is recessed target crown, basically cut at 90 degrees about .070" in and then chamfered out. Finished at high speed with very fine tool made especially for the job No lapping required, just pull trigger and clean to remove any burrs - under a loupe eyepiece, the crown is razor sharp at the muzzle. I could have done an 11 degree but prefer the recessed target style. I'll be completley honest with the range reports, I still await dies from Sinclair (taken three weeks now) and they both need proofing and the BAT is to be coated before load dev. Ronin
Skany that particular barrel is .830" at the muzzle, it is quite thick enough, it looks skinny only when put next to the big bore exhaust on the BAT.
