Guest varmartin
They can be finicky, I have shot a few squirrels with mine now, some times it blows them to bits ...others dont even exit. Not shot Fox with it though. Or a little black wabbit
Andrew
It is all in the Lot. If they are focusing on Winchester ammo that run, the machinery gets slowed down and a better grade of ammo results. This is how the perception of a difference in brand quality is maintained. Frankly, I think they toughened up the bullet jacket after the third run of Hornady ammo. That why the first run ammo would expand if you hit a grasshopper and later ammo would shoot through rabbits.~Andrew
nemasis243
A few of us have tried the Winchester and cant get the same type of groups that Federal or Hornady will produce, I am glad we only bought a small batch of it and am just using it on crows and magpies,
Guest varmartin
I will use the Remington ammo exclusively now.....unless I come across some Hornady. I only use the Winchester ammo if I want to miss something
casts_by_fly
the winchester supremes (grey tip) have always done well by me. My gun likes CCI's and winchesters. If any of your guys want to get rid of winnies, I'll hapily take them off your hands. Thanks Rick

Streeker59
My Quad prefers the Remy ammo. Federal shoots 2" lower at 100 yds and wont group as well..
shrek
Its been a long time since iv used the humble little HMR, but iv tried fedral remington and cci, as seem to shoot about the same in my savage, i did abit of testing with the 17gr agains the 20 gr hollow point, 17 v-maxs would shoot accuratly to 200 yards (on paper) however once the 20gr hollows got past 100 they ran out of steam, I also found that the hollow points didnt kill as well either and tended to pencil through rabbits and fox's instead of expaning! I know this is nothing to do with winny ammo, but i thought id share my experiences
tikka69
Used Winchester and Hornady in my Savage 17 hmr and they both seem to group ok, maybe slightly better with the Hornady. Not tried anything else yet.
