TRG-22 .308 load

TC

Recommended Posts

I finally have my hands on my TRG :D

As there seem to be a few TRG's on here could any of you point me in the right direction for a decent target load ?

I saw the impressive group by Kal and the comment on SAMMI length but no details on the load.

Northernchris will be helping me get started (cheers mate!) but any guidance on what has worked for you would be appreciated.

Most load`s give greate accuracy in the TRG-22.

My best load`s are:

155scenar

44grains N-150

lapua brass

Set length 74mm

Federal 210 match primer

Gives aboute 840m/s

167scenar

45grains N-150

lapua brass

set length 72mm

Federal 210 match primer

Gives aboute 840m/s

A 5shoot groupe I shoot at 200meters with the 167scenar load

IMG_3425_mod.jpg

These two loads go side by side up to 400-500meters but after that the 155scenar hits higher.

At 700meters the 155scnear hits aboute 30cm higher.

At 830meter the 155scenar hit aboute 32cm higher.

175SMK

Up to 45grains N-150

lapua brass

set length 73mm

Federal 210match primer

Gives aboute 820m/s

Only tested 3shot with this load, and got 14mm 3shot group at 200meters with this load.

Tested 44.5grains at 540meters, and got aboute a 60mm 3shot groupe with a wery dirty barrel.

155scenar with 44grains N-150 is a soft load, I have tested up to 47grains N-150 and got 900m/s velosity.

I have start to use a simular power like N-150, a low cost Norma powder that we called N-11, and these powder gives the same MV with the same load in my rifle.

Regards

Terje

Hi Tony, the load kal used is one i did him, and i use it in my tactical 308 now, its...

lapua brass

fed 210 gold medal match primer

42 grains of reloder 15

168 grain A-max

SAAMI length loaded [2.700"]

this gives 2544 fps out of my 20" barrel, which is slow, but will give good velocities from a 24" tube. This load feeds exceptionally well from a mag, and is blisteringly accurate. You think the group was good from Kals? it shoots in the .2,s and 3,s in mine.

The trg will handle most bullets/loads, its just one of the exceptional guns. Dont discount the 155 scenar, you can really get those humming along ;)

Thanks guys!

Well the one consistent factor is Lapua brass - which is handy as I picked up a couple of hundred with the rifle.......

I'll get together with Chris and report back on the first results.

As this point I will be happy if I can shoot those 200m groups at 100m!

Cheers

TC

PS Terje, I sent you an email earlier re: spacers..

Like Ronin mensure, the 155scenar is reale accurate bullet to.

What speed do you got with your load Ronin?

I also hunt for speed with the 155scenar bullet before I got a tip from a Norwegian friend.

I used a load with 46.8 N-150 and got 3shot group around 50-60mm at 390meters, but then I tried the 44grains N-150 the groups shurk to the half.

The best 3shot group that day at 390meter was only 12-13mm.

here is the pictures:

Hi Terje

the 155's in my AW are travelling around a brisk 2985 fps, when I last checked them.

Excellent bullet and very consistant load.
