.308 allrounder

Recommended Posts

Here,s one I finished yesterday for a chap.

Its a sort of multi purpose .308 and is nicely balanced and lightweight.

The action is a Valkyrie Odin with a 20 moa rail and jewel trigger.

The barrel is a border 1 in 10" fluted and screwcut 18mm x 1 with invisible cap and dished crown.

The barrelled action is fully bedded into a McMillan A3-5 and is fitted with my floor plate, again fully bedded in.

The barrelled action finish is Duracoat Parker and complements the stock well.

Very nice rifle, thanks Dave. As you say, nicely balanced, now its in my mitts!!

British Bulldog - its Rem varmint profile, but 22".

I like the straight fluted action very much.

To say I'm pleased with the way it turned out is an understatement - can't wait to see how it shoots.

Hoping to get it zeroed and set up for the RRC on Saturday, although detailed load development will have to wait!!

Terry - we'll see how it flies on Saturday!!

Unfortunately, I suspect the old phrase "its the indian, not the arrow" may come in to play - I have no excuses to hide behind with a gun like that!!

Island man - I will try and get some pics of it dressed posted.

Hoping to zero tonight after work - have an old faithful load which I hope it will group reasonably.

Bushdog

It did look really good when you picked it up from me the other night.

Could not believe how light it was.

Another great job by Dave, he is getting pretty good at this rifle making thing now :D :D :D

It will be good to see how it shoots on Saturday, on the Bodmin Moor!

See you you there.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: Finally managed to work on a load for this, rather than using up existing loads. It shoots very well indeed with the load I've settled on which is a 168gn Lapua Scenar at 2744fps.

Previous outings have been with old ammo, so I'm looking forward to the next shoot to stretch its legs. I'm really liking the balance and feel of this gun.
