flyingfisherman
I was up in Morayshire in October with work. While everyone else was sleeping off hangovers from happy hour in the mess, i was out in the woods.. unfortunately no rifle but just the knife and some bits and bobs. A colleague and i had a rake around and then cooked them up with some belly pork for a light lunch! Being outdoors even without a rifle really is the mutts nuts! Chanterelles and belly pork! flyingfisherman
Brilliant! (& I'm jealous of that stove!) Those stoves are brilliant! He does a good deal too from the states.. Anyone with access to CNC type engineering gear could make a similar design.. Its so light and compact, it lives in my stalking rucksack with a fire steel and some tinder. My water bottle and cup in there as well and its a lightweight setup to use on a wet day or if you get caught out.
Tikka 260
Food for The Gods..... very envious ( as I am stuck on a boat in the middle of the Caspian) The stove looks a great bit of stand by kit ..... I'll research that one! Thanks for sharing your day. P
flyingfisherman
Yeah its horses for courses i suppose really.. i carry the below kit, also whats not shown is a waterproof hammock. reason being (and it depends where i am and what im doing) but safety. The idea is that ive got an ultra lightweight setup which would see me through a night or two on the hill or in the woods.. I have a gas stove also but really find it bulky and unnecessary to carry in the sack. If i take my gas stove, i leave it with the bacon in the truck.. In the top pic, i have a jerven bivvy bag which is just something else.. Its not just great for a safety aid but if your sat in a highseat (or as i do with NV sit there all night) it keeps you warm and dry. Its not compressed there and packs up into half the size. I carry a DC4 knife sharpener, a knife, a small axe (again, depending on what im upto and where im off), my water bottle and tin, a fire steel and the stove. Theres a pic of the stove to give you an idea of its size. Its weight is about the same as a CD case too.
