brown dog
Just idle wondering: Is there a 300 whisper equivalent built on a 308 based case (visualising .30BR with heavy bullets and an appropriate twist)? - thinking of something standardish that'd feed in an AW. Scotch_egg
I've bought some tin star to use with 175grn SMK's in my .308 for some sub sonic fun. No need for a second barrel or loading equipment.

brown dog
10gr will get you there Dave Regards Ewen Ewen, What sort of groups do you get with with that? (ie is a sunsonic 30brwhisper a silly distraction that'll offer no more than 175gr smk from a 308?)
ChrisF
What are you wanting it to do , IF you are after subsonic w/heavy projectiles then you will want a very fast twist , for a 300Whisper type ie 240gr SMK you will want a 1-7 twist for a 338 , 300gr maybe a 1 - 6.5 at least thats what I have been advised . Cases , up to you , the 6mmBR/7mmBR can go to 30 or 338 cal , also maybe something like a 338 Federal , I would 1st make sure it Feeds & empties eject OK , as a lot of people have trouble with the very short cases , like the 221 Fireball & 6mmBR based cartridges . Danpd
I would try some of the Ruag subsonic ammo from sporting services, the ES and SD were single digit and accuracy was 1/2" at 100yds from a customers 18" barrelled .308 10 twist. Subsonic ok up to 100yds, but drops like a Geordies knickers past that.
