ejg223
One thing good about ultra light stocks is that one can add weight exactly where it is of use. We made this stock for a French customer who can also test recoil on rifles in his lab. For us the interest lies in how the rifle behaves under recoil and I'm hoping to get some kind of info out of the exercise. The stock we built weighs complete with all fittings 1085 grams. To reduce recoil somewhat but not alter the muzzleflip behaviour much we made a extra heavy second cheek piece. This can be used when at the range and the light one for hunting. We managed to pack about 400 grams of lead into the top of the adjustable cheek which will be very close to the line of recoil meaning we do not increase muzzle flip. The balance of the stock moves back which can be a good thing. We can make the adjustable cheek to withing a few grams of what a customer wishes between 130 and 550 grams, maybe more if we can get our hands on some depleted uranium..... Both of these cheek raiseres are made of carbon fibre. The one with the weight added swivels up on a flat surface like a sailing boat. The E-Tac fitted with the normal light cheek raiser has it's centre of gravity slightly forward of the pistol grip. Total weight 1085 grams (38OZ). With the heavy cheek raiser the stocks overall weight is 1485 grams (53OZ). Centre of gravity is behind the pistol grip. edi
