Jackal Posted September 23, 2012 Report Share Posted September 23, 2012 The 452's don't need to be free floating - there's not enough kick in a rimfire for this to make any real difference unless yoy've got a very long lightweight barrel and heavy mod. It certainly won't make an 8" difference to your group. The fact that it shoots well without the mod tells you it's your moderator or threading job. If you have the same problem with different mods then it's your thread not being central - the threading jobs on cz's are notoriously bad (they often have this issue). You'll need to find a decent rifle smith and get it re threaded and re crowned - 17hmrs are particularly sensitive to crown issues so ensure whoever you use is well thought of. bigdan too Posted October 5, 2012 Report Share Posted October 5, 2012 ive had a sak on my .17 for years without a problem , actually thats should read im on my second one as after 5000 rounds the groups opened up rapidly. bought another one and its back to being great.
