ejg223
I didn't see that DVD, but firing bullets into ceramic plated kevlar vests can go wrong. We once made ceramic samples for a vest company which passed all tests except an upward shot where some of the ceramic fragments flew out and pierced the dummy in the throat area. edi

ejg223
This wouldnt be Dragon Skin would it? 308Panther Pat, don't think it had anything to do with them. As far as I remember it was a swiss company. All very secret. They had problems in bosnia with the nato vests and the armour piercing rounds. At the end it all boiled down to costs, one could have developed very good lightweight security but they where looking for a quick fix at that time. edi

I was lookin over their site earlier and saw this : With NIJ's recent decision to temporarily suspend our NIJ certification on our SOV 2000 Dragon Skin SOV 2000.1/MIL3AF01, over concerns of our warranty, many law enforcement agencies have called us, expressing their displeasure, that when they have contacted NIJ to inquire about this issue, NIJ has not taken their phone calls and have not returned their messages. If you or your agency has been neglected by NIJ in this manner, Pinnacle Armor needs to hear from you. I am not at all suprised to hear ya say its "Classified:Top Secret" as the composition materials is technology that is sensitive stuff. 308Panther

Glued two together and our customer fired at them with a 7.62 (308) at 10yds with those tungsten carbide needle armour percing rounds. First he missed a couple times... but then the only 6mm ceramic totally fragmented the tungsten tip. The fragments where easily held by a thick layer of kevlar. I know the competition needed at least 10mm ceramic to break the tip. If you ask me what we use for our jet nozzles, no secret. If you ask them whats in the vest... But it was some fun shooting at 10yds. Through a peephole of 50mm makrolon perspex. edi
