Now that sounds like a decent deal. I am having some domestic strife right now but when the dust settles I will put in an order for a matched set. 200/150/100mm.

Nothing smaller as I have scraps for that and bullet holes in them will be like trophies ;-)

Looking forward to seeing a picture. Thinking about how to hang them so they face slightly downwards, rawplug and hook screwed in from the back?

Bobs 18mm plates worked well by feeding wire through the holes and hanging from the back except that we nearly lost one at Tonys shoot down in Somerset, earlier in the year. One of us shot the wire out and it rolled off down the hill - it went one he'll of a long way "rolleyes"

Cheers

Rup

For the cost of the steel I have a chap that will cut any target you want under a water jet. He assures me the jet will cut any steel plate in production and not alter the state of the metal under heat.

Water jet is the way to cut all of these steels really, I was coded in the welding of fine grain steels hardox/weldox and the steel you really want which is armox and they all suffer with becoming brittle on the heat affected zone (HAZ)

I'm currently making mine out of hardox 400 or 500 , whichever I can chaw at the time!! And then plasma cutting freehand , I then weld a couple of bolts on the back to hang it from chain which I have tons of as I work with cranes.

Just about to cut myself a roe ( full-size ) and the problem is the wastage with anything but a square basically .

The cost of all these specialist steels will make your toes curl !

Before we start putting in orders can you do a test of the material first with a few pics maybe so we know what we are getting.

I have a few crows rabbits and sitting fox from WMS which are great but would like some discs to hang.

Mick

Finally had a chance to pop some rounds at the targets, the shoulder shots were an inch above a small white sticker but it flew off somewhere, the head shots were a bit of fun.

The 70mm lollypop is sprayed with cheap gold paint.

All shots 60g 223 @ 120 yards.... no damage to plate but a nice little silver circle.

Looking good colin..just one on the fox..can he do these with spikes rather than a stand ?

how sturdy are the lollipop tgts when hit as they are stuck in the ground ?.

Mick

Hi Mick

He will do you one on wheels if thats what you want :)

As for the lollypop it will be more stable if it has two legs but i only had the lollipop made for the photo.

Hi Snowz

I shot at this Hardox plate with my 308 before i sold it. I fired sako soft points and 7.62 fmj rounds at it and they made no greater impact damage than my 223.

Your only in Hereford... bring that 260 up for a pop at it...then at least someone else on here can see that this material is ok.

regards

I've had a chance to fire a couple of shoots at the plates with the 6.5x47. scenars going 2940 at 100 there was a small crater left in the steel, pretty good considering it will punch straight through mild steel at 400+ but prolonged use at close range (below 300) would knock them about a bit I think. For long range they should stand up to the punishment very well, which is what I wanted them for anyway. On a side note, I found Bruce very helpful so maybe a harder steel could be speced if you wanted to use a bigger calibre at close range? Not sure I'd want to myself though (need a tin hat emoticon)

Hi Just to let you all know our products Fox & Gong Targets & Target Stand will be tested and reviewed by Bruce Pots, there will initially be a write up in the January edition (comes out two weeks before xmas) of the Gunmart magazine. Then the test review will be in the month after. Keep a look out for it.

Due to the Christmas Special Offer being popular we are keeping it going for the time being.
