  1. Used some Hornady factory loads today (300 blackout -125 gr American gunner) and was shocked to find splits along the necks of several cases. This ammo I have had for a year or so at he back of the cabinet as I generally load my own using AdI cases and recently some nozzles (feeling rich that day) with which I have not had a problem, These were part of three boxes I bought when I first acquired the 300 blk barrel for my Schultz and Larson legacy . One comment I would say is they looked a little tarnished and have a few marks on the cases, now wondering if they had be poorly stored. The first box I used appeared to be ok and I even reloaded the cases without incident (although I soon gave that up when I found out all the primer pockets had to be reamed out). Reading some American forums I am not the first to comment. Now thinking I should ditchHas anybody else had issues with Hornady brass as it is I reckon the 40 rounds I have left will be scrap

RCBS MatchMaster Digital Powder Scale & Dispenser Chargemaster 98941, has anybody tried this, sounds great but but as a user of accurate or rather better to say very precise at =/- 0.02 gr. however with electronic scalesi experience a lot of issues around environment, suffice to say when working well electronic is very good, but when they are not they are a pain. and yes I am aware of how good enhanced balance scales are. But would like some feed back on these if anybody has tried them and if they perform as well as laboratory scales cheers

Cheers but I did sort it by winding down the die until I found where the crimping action actually took place, then backed off a little bit by bit to avoid the crimp and they just managed to get the depth I was after. Although first go at 200 yards was not brilliant but then I did reduce the load quite a bit from the serria data. Which compared with quick load seemed very high. Def needs a lot of development which for me is the interesting bit. To be honest I don’t have practical reason for doing apart from the fun of sorting it out. Not that I’ll being do that for a while now With our crono problem cheers

Thanks for the responses I am using a lee no 4 shell holder, and have backed off the Redding die 3/4 - 1 turn (0.05-0.07”) from touching the shell holder , with the seating screw fully down this gives me cartridge length of 2.2515. So 0.0215” longer than the Sierra data sheet. Thinking about this I will try screwing in the die until I feel the crimp set in and this may give me the the depth on the chart. Although I prefer to start off using the manufactures data I do use quick load which predicts chamber pressure. But the reason for my caution is that the top end loads on the Sierra data sheet flag up as in the danger area “Do not use” to answer question asked I have 7.5 twist rate and using lil’ gun. sierra data ranges from 8.3 - 13.5 gn @ 2.230”. using quick load I am looking at starting my load at 9.5gn @ 2.252” (having measured my max coal For this head with a hornady gauge)
  5. Just started looking at loading #2251 for 300 blk. first problem is my Redding seating dies will not adjust down to the 2.23” OAL recommended by Sierra. anybody else had this problem.

I also get problems with my Lyman gen 6, load vary +0.1 / -0.15 according to powder type (flanks - granular) My solution is to set it up to be just under and then transfer to trickle it up to load on another set of scales. been using a myweight scales reading down to 0.01 gn but getting fed up with having to perform long warm up times and recalibration due variations in temperature changes or drafts. When it works well it’s great, when it doesn’t it’s crap. it boils down to the fact that Electronic scales are affected by the ambient conditions and more likely to go wrong. Thinking about a tuned beam scale.
