  1. Hi there, Yes my license states 'Fox and any other lawful quarry'
  2. I have an 'open' certificate with .223 being the largest calibre I am currently allowed to purchase. Yesterday I went to look at a new permission. It's not a huge amount of land (about 55acres) but offers good topography with nice safe back stops. The farmer was unaware what calibre the land had been cleared up to and he has lived there for ten years. He has a few problem foxes during lambing season. 1) Presuming the land hasn't been cleared for centre fire rifles in the past ten years (since the farmer moved in), am I still okay to shoot my .223 on there (i.e. is my open certificate deeming me responsible enough to make the decision that it is safe or does the land still have to be cleared and registered on a database)? 2) With the good lay of the land I am thinking it might be a good chance to request some larger calibres be added to my ticket I presume the FAO would have to come out and inspect the land to clear the calibres and then have them added to my FAC? Is this how it would all work? 3) Is there a database or phone number I can ring to check when the land was last cleared and what calibre it was cleared up to? My FAC is due for renewal in May 2024.
  3. Anybody local to me on here? I've rang round all the local (and not so local) shooting clubs however due to Covid none of them are taking new members until next year at the earliest. I used to have a permission in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire (now living in Worcestershire) where I shot my .22LR however the land owner has now sold up and moved down south. Would like to chat to someone who perhaps shoots in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire.
  4. I currently keep my rifle at a local gunsmiths when not in use as I live in a rental property and felt there wasn't a suitable wall to bolt a gun cabinet to. I am moving into a new house in a couple of weeks that I have bought and I feel the best place to store my rifle is going to be in the garage as it has the strongest walls. I have read that a rifle should not be stored in a garage unless for 'certain circumstances' but I can't find what these 'certain circumstances' are. Can anyone enlighten me please?
  5. Hi there, I'm wanting to buy a rail to mount my Pard NV008 LRF. I currently have it mounted it to the dovetail rail however the bolt is ever slightly obstructed by it. I'm still able to reload, but it can be a bit fiddly sometimes. Ideally I would like the rail to be extended slightly as well. I am currently away from my rifle so it would be useful to know the lengths of the dovetail rails (please see pic) so that the rail I do buy isn't too long that it will completely obstruct my bolt handle when reloading. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks mate. Are they easy to install?
  7. I have a CZ 455 and am looking to get a longer bolt handle. Any ideas where I can get one from?
  8. How accurate are you finding apps such as Strelock?
  9. Do you have to aim under below 50m?
  10. Hi ladies and gents. I have a CZ 455 .22LR and was wondering what distance people are generally zeroing at? I will mainly be using Eley subsonic rounds and shooting rabbits, what is the maximum distance I can expect to get a clean kill with a head shot? Thanks in advance.
  11. I rent the house from my next door neighbours who live in a large farmhouse. We essentially share the garden. I just put 'my garden' to try and save confusion.
  12. Hi there, I've recently purchased my first .22LR rifle. I'm new to all this so bare with me. I was given permission to shoot in my garden with the rifle after the FEO cleared the land. If I have permission from someone else to shoot on their land, a local farmer for example (and the land has been cleared to shoot on with any .22LR rifle), is this all I would need to be able to shoot on that land?
  13. Hi there, Does anybody based in the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire/Herefordshire area have a shooting rest, similar to the one in the picture, I could borrow for a couple of days? Many thanks
  14. I am about to purchase a .22LR and need some advice on what people think a suitable scope is to attach.... I wouldn't want to spend more than £500 The rifle will be used mainly for shooting rabbits as well as target practice. Thanks in advance.
