SMLE replied to MrDuston's topic in For Sale (Free Adverts for Private Secondhand Items only)
The moderator has unlocked this again Mr Duston. Could you just confirm if you consider the 400 and 450 primers to be sold to me? No problem if you’ve sold to someone else, just need to know in case you’re waiting for me to pick them up -

I’m confused Mr Duston….. does that mean the 400’s and 450’s are mine? My intent was to collect… -

I’ll have the CCI 450’s if you still have them? -
For sale is my Marlin .44 lever action rifle. It’s a Remington made rifle but is a nice one. 20” round barrel and has an XS Sights picatinny rail fitted by the previous owner, together with a whitetail classic scope. The rifle has been well cared for by the original owner and subsequently, me. I’m selling to fund a scope upgrade on my target rifle and through lack of use, it’s spent most of the last twelve months sitting in the cabinet. Included will be about 200 twice fired cases, a mix of Starline and Winchester, about 250 cast lead 240 grain bullets, a set of Lee dies and a virtually full tub of green dot powder that I’ve found works well now that Unique is like rocking horse poo. £750 all in.

Toying with the idea of upgrading my hearing protection, researching in ear options throws up a bewildering range of products and costs, just wondering, from those who use in ear devices, what your experiences might be and which products might be recommended.

These days component availability is the decider. I had a wonderful load using Lapua SR brass, Norma 204 powder, CCI 450 primers and 147 eld Hornady’s. Lack of local choices for primers and powder has driven me to RS70, the same bullets but federal match primers. Seems perhaps a tad better in terms of grouping and although the primers are a little flattened, no other signs of pressure issues. Like pops, loaded to suit chamber/barrel so magazine feeding is not an option.

Back up for sale, a lovely rifle, drop me a line if interested. -
For sale is my Marlin 1894 in .44 that I’ve owned for just over a year purchased from the original owner on a whim (I love lever guns) but hardly used at all, maybe 100 rounds in my ownership. Its a Remington made rifle but an early one, don’t let that put you off, it’s absolutely fine and operates smoothly without issue. It has a 20” round barrel. The original owner fitted an XS Sights rail, foresight and Simmons Classic Whitetail scope which always intended to remove and take back to stock but never did as it all works and makes a different shooting experience to my Henry, also for sale on here. I’ll throw in a hundred or so cases, a box of cast bullets and my load data. Small cabinet ding to stock as shown, otherwise in fabulous condition.

For sale again, due to a buyer who changed his mind, is my beautiful, in as new condition Henry Big Boy in .44 I’ve owned this lovely little rifle for a few years now and it is in superb condition and a joy to operate and shoot. Fitted with Skinner Express sights with the original buckhorn sights still in its original box. Only selling to fund a new project as I hardly ever use it these days and it’s wasted in my cabinet, it’s a rifle that should be used and is guaranteed to put a grin on your face. Go on…. treat yourself for Christmas 😀

A couple of shooting buddies and I used Gary (private marker - sometimes on here) when the NRA had problems last time. We found him enthusiastic and reliable although £20 or so more per session at stickledown. The confidence in knowing the place we were making holes was being accurately marked was worth the extra cost to be honest. That was an additional cost spread across three of us though.

6.5 creedmoor

You’re best bet is to take a look at the Norma load data on line and work something up based on your rifle. I found a load around 42 grains to work well in my 26” barrel with 1:8 twist. Start low and work up looking for pressure signs as you go. CCI 450 primers in small primer Lapua brass by the way. -
