  1. Edit: My apologies if I've posted any of these before - I can't figure out how to search for my own posts! Not claiming any sort of "average performance" for these, but I've trawled through my photo history and found a couple of nice ones... Century Range, 100 yds, at the Rifle Meeting 2016 - 10 shot groups, prone, sling, aperture sights, could have been Centre-X or R50 at that point. Shot with an AHG F27A Challenger. I got this one back and framed the bottom diagram Home range, unknown league card, July 2014. 50m, 5 shot group, Centre-X, PSAS again. Shot with an Anschutz 1913 on the 2213 alu stock. Home range, would have been the Yorkshire Any Sights league, April 2014. 100yds, 10 shot group, Centre-X, prone, sling, honking great Sightron SIII scope... damn that thing was heavy! The AHG F27A again. Appleton RC's 50m range, May 2013. Probably Centre-X again (I was on it for years), PSAS, Anschutz 1913, but it's only a 2 shot group... I'd shot the 100yds part of the comp in the morning, and these were the first two sighting shots in the afternoon after rolling over the foresight to set it at 50m. I kept this one so that next time I saw Barry Nesom (who made the foresight), I could wind him up by claiming that there was a WHOLE MILLIMETER of difference between the zeroes
  2. I did not. Especially if it's iron-y on your hip - where I do not know this gentleman and I was not there at the time, Officer.
  3. Carrying - US terminology for having a firearm about or near to one's person. cf "Open carry" and "Concealed carry", there are a raft of regulations varying on a state-by-state basis as to what is allowed.
  4. Do they have a lot of firearm warantees that need repairing, then?
  5. Norma make 6mmBR and 6mmXC in their "Diamond Line", and it's ruinously expensive. Load your own, my good Sir!
  6. Bluetooth is only supposed to go 100m, at Class 1, so I'm not surprised to hear of problems using it at 1200yds
  7. Hi Pete, I'll take it. I'll drop you a PM to arrange the details. Cheers, Nick.

  9. Their actions are incorrect under the relevant legislation (The Poisons Act 1972, as Amended - which you can read here.) All 3 chemicals are only Scheduled (Schedule 1A parts 3 and 4) as "Reportable Substances", *not* "Regulated Substances" (both terms defined in Section 2) - and do not require a license to buy or possess (offenses only relate to Regulated Substances, see Sections 3, 3A and 3B). 'Possess' is an important one, rest easy anyone who's already got hold of some! They are not even compelled to "report" the transaction either, as Section 3C Clauses 1 to 4 clearly show that simple questions could be used to remove "reasonable grounds for believing the transaction to be suspicious". /sigh If I were to guess, it's a toss-up between them getting some new stock in and the admin staff ticking the wrong box on the database (so you'll get "computer says no" as a response) - or that they've decided to gold-plate the legislation because they can't be bothered with the effort of dealing with Joe Public versus the larger/easier revenues from industry (so you'll get a teeth sucking 'jobsworth' response). If they'll still sell you the other 2 parts, despite them all being in the Reportable lists, then just nod and smile and get it from eBay?
  10. I'm not wanting to whizz on your chips, but there's a few reports that the Lee pots aren't quite as high quality as they could be - and that they struggle with achieving/holding the right temperature after a few uses. I've not heard the same about the Lyman ones though, which is the detail that got me interested in the info above
  11. I should make a poached egg adapter as well then?
  12. Excellent info mate, thanks for that! Yes, SS is a bit of a bugger to machine compared to the normal stuff... I'm wondering if mild steel and a damn good coating of high-temp paint ( https://www.rawlinspaints.com/home/metal-paints/heat-resistant-paints/440-rust-oleum-heat-resistant-paint-750c.html ) might do the job just as well?
  13. Popsbengo - I was going to have a go at salt annealing this year, after reading the other thread on the topic. Any chance you could give us a list of the bits or dimensions needed to make the jig for the pot? The shoulders of giants, and all that
  14. Perhaps I just hit lucky with the type of foam, but the hot wire would only be able to do a better job if it made me a cup of coffee afterwards...
  15. Chaps, it's very easy to do it yourself if you've got the right tool: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7077397 I'm not joking, I've done mine with one of these and it's fine. Draw your template outline onto the foam, poke your scissors through the centre of the cutout section to give the blade somewhere to start, then carve your way around the edge.
