  5. Hi, Always fancied a Rolling Block single shot rifle, and am shortly to be the proud oner of one in 45 Colt calibre (not ideal I know, but allowed at all my clubs from 50 to 200m, and I have all the kit and materials to reload that calibre anyway). So, it is a Pedersoli, and does any one know what the proof pressure in these is? Is it 14000 as per SAAMI, or 15900 as per Pedersoli download, or anything from 19000 to 30000 as per some powder manufacturers?? (cup/psi by the way). I would like to stretch it to 300/400m on my own ground, but really need to get the MV up a bit to have a reasonable chance of hitting anything other than a barn door, which would be difficult at a "do not exceed" of 14000. With Unique or Blue dot the MV would be around 1100 to 1200 fps, whereas I would like to be looking at 1300 to 1500 or possibly more with a jacketed bullet? M (dreaming in Monmouthshire)
  6. Hi, Just started wet tumbling my brass. Got one of the Frankford Arsenal Light units as although I reload a lot of calibres, I do not usually have more than 100 cases at a time. My daft question is how many steel pins are required? Most suppliers sell them in small (1 to 1.5lb) or large (5lb) lots - small seems a bit parsimonious, large seems an overkill (and a lot of pins to pick up and dry off) So how many is right??? (Answers on a postcard please) M - Keeping his head above water in wet Monmouthshire
  7. Hi, No longer required, so I have for sale: Hornady straight OAL gauge with modified cases for 223 and 308 Headspace and bullet comparator inserts for 223, with the caliper base unit £75 posted to UK address (This would cost around £100 to £120 to buy now in the UK) M
  8. Hi, For Sale my trusty Prochrono Chronometer Redundant as I have a LabRadar as well Simple and reliable, to be honest I have not seen much difference between this and the LabRadar in terms of accuracy and use The LabRadar does give more in formation, and enables calculation of BC of the projectile, but the Chrono does what it says on the tin £70.00 posted to UK address

  10. 1066 - If I can get groups like that, I will be a happy Bunny!! Best I get with my 44 ROA with 457 balls is 1.5in at 25m, and there is always a flyer! The pic of the loader - is that what comes with it, or is that your vesion? What are the plastic bits?? M
  11. Hi, In the wanted section of this Forum, I saw a recent thread regarding the Westlake ML revolver, one of the replies to which was somewhat less than complimentary. As I have my name down for one of these (and the variation for) I was wondering if any one else has any input on these?? I already have two BP ML revolvers and am aware of the loading procedure problems. The cleaning regime when using BP substitutes (I use Triple 7) is not too bad, but the attraction of the Westlake was the fact that it used smokeless powders, and they are powders I keep anyway. Any and all opinions welcome!
  12. Varm, well said and well argued, this sort of thing on a public forum concerning possible illegal matters does no-one any good. I would be very surprised if some spook some were is not monitoring all these forums. If not a person, AI is at such a level now that a machine will do it M (keeping his head down in thundery Monmouthshire)
  13. Gwent Police Pre covid, variations took 1 to 2 weeks My last one for one (April 2022) took 9 weeks No phone numbers for Firearms division any more, everything has to be done by e mail God only knows how long it takes for a renewal M
  14. Holts have sneaked in another charge lately - they dopped in a charge of 1.25% (+VAT) storage and insurance on me yesterday M with a depleted gun cabinet in sunny Monmouthshire
  15. I cannot vouch for the veracity of this, but my supplier rang me a month ago and advised on stocking up, as he had been advised that CCI were not shipping primers to UK until at least 2023, due to domestic demand. He could of course have been just trying to drum up sales. He did succeed M sitting (uncomfortably?) on piles of primers in sunny Monmouthshire
  16. Ok, so nice day, took my BA 22Lr rifle out to the range to get the cobwebs out of the barrel Rifle is Ruger Precision in 22LR with 15 shot magazine, and fitted with a One Less Charlie moderator Ammo is RWS Special Match POA on each 7.9 inch target is centre of target spot, and there are target spots at centre, 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock First 5 shots are centre of Target 1 - high shot is 1st shot which was definitely supersonic. Next 4 shots were definitely sub sonic (as RWS special Match is) After shooting rest of magazine, put gun down, had a cup of coffee - 10 minutes?? 2nd Mag, first 6 shots are 3 o'clock on Target 1 - High shot as before, the other 5 subsonic and where I aimed(well nearly). Rest of mag as above, left for probably 10 minutes 3rd mag, 15 shots to target 9 o'clock on Target 2 - first 2 shots are high shots, first supersonic. Rest of mag (13 shots) more or less at POA. Again left to rest for a few minutes 4th Mag, 10 shots to target at centre on Target 2 - result as above, 2 high shots, first supersonic, 8 close to POA Any one any ideas?? M scratchin' 'is 'ead in sunny Monmouthshire PS: range is 50metres, and the sghts were adjusted slightly after the first mag - no comments about markmanship please, I know I am not very good
  17. Hi, yes that is basically it - some think that I am silly wanting clean brass, but each to their own, I lke clean brass, others don't care. Whatever makes you happy! M still smilin' in sunny Monmouthshire
  18. Hi scrumbag, If you are after a Lee Autodrum, I have one surplus to needs - It is complete with both short and long riser dies, and has a third party powder bottle which can be top loaded without unscrewing, and does not fall off like the Lee one does, and has a powder baffle so that the charge does not vary with the level of powder in the bottle. I also have a set of 4 extra powder measures, 2 small and 2 large (although the large do convert to the small as per the Lee blurb) Reason for sale: Now use a Hornady auto trickler and make sure that cases and powder vials always match so I know that all the cases are charged PM me if interested M PS I gave up priming on the press too. I use a Lee deprime tool, sonic clean the cases, then size on the press etc. Keeps the die clean, and the primer pockets are spotless PPS welcome to the world of Lever Rifles and LBR ( I have Lever rifles in 357, 44, and 45-70; LBR in 357, and 45Colt. All loaded on the turret press).
  19. terryh I use smokeless and BP sub(T-7) on both these calibres M
  20. Hi, amongst others, I reload 45C and 45-70 with a certain brand of Lead bullets, which are pre-lubed. In every box there are always some which have some or all of the lube missing from at least one lube groove, as per the phots attached. My question is: Does the missing sections of lube cause instability in the flight of the bullet, or is all the lube in all the grooves consumed during the passage of the bullet through the barrel??? Another thought, I always tumble these lead bullets with Alox as well,is that a good thing or does the layer of alox stop the lube in the grooves from being distributed in the barrel?? M (possibly overthinking things in sunny Monmouthshire)
  21. Dustyman, you took too long to readyour mail, I have sold to some one else Sorry M
  22. Will take offers for the set of 5 Lee dies, but the RCBS Competition Die is a steal at £25
