  1. I've had no issues since that one. I also contacted CCI and was told that the 400 is fine for a bolt action .223 unless you exceed maximum loads in recommended published data (they didn't state what recommended published data was and I didn't ask). But they don't recommend the 400 in a semi auto with a heavy floating firing pin as slam fires can sometimes occur though are not common.
  2. Nope, the rear of the follower is angled. Any resistance felt is just the stiff spring in the mag which are designed to feed fast firing semi autos.
  3. The factory mags are pmags. You also don't need these, you can feed off the top of the pmag just fine.
  4. If you don't find one, I could 3D print this for you. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3474706 Might be cheaper to buy one though if you can find it.
  5. It doesn't state what is made from but looks to be the usual mix of aluminium and steel.
  6. With no bad reports, I decided to buy one. I think it suits the RPR really well. The build quality is excellent and it's very lightweight. I can well believe that ATEC made it. The sound reduction is about the same as the Wildcat Evolution that the guy next to me at the range had. At £200, I think it's excellent.
  7. Yeah, they are very loyal to loyal customers. I've spent thousands on guns and paraphernalia over the years and typically get a few quid knocked off on every visit. I once went in there with a broken slide stop on a GSG 1911 and was just handed a new one for free. I didn't even get the gun there.
  8. This was nowhere near maximum load. It was 23.5gr N140 with a 77gr SMK 40thou off the lands. I can run 24.7gr with no pressure signs (usually) but as stated, it's not worth pushing faster when 23.5gr works at the distances I shoot.
  9. It's possible but it looked pretty well seated after the fact and I'm typically very careful about that sort of thing. Cases are stainless tumbled after depriming so there shouldn't have been carbon in the pocket. I've put 50 more through it this morning and no signs of a repeat. All primers nicely dented in the middle with no cratering, light strikes or odd shaped dents.
  10. Wedge shaped bag rider for KRG X-ray? 20 minute design, 3 hour print (solid PETG). Thank you 3D printer.
  11. It was Lapua brass. I've fired approximately 16,000 rounds with this action and bolt (on barrel 3 now) with the same load and same primers and this is my first issue. I took it to the gun shop where I got it almost 8 years ago this afternoon, they gave it the once over and declared it good but did say that if it happened again, they'd replace the firing pin free of charge just to be sure. I'm no CCI fanboy but they are always available to me and have always worked.
  12. A face full of blowback, smoke out of the vent on the action and a funny smell.
  13. They were CCI small rifle primers. Not the BR ones.
  14. I had my first ever pierced primer. It was in a batch of 5 times fired cases with the same, well below max charge load I've used for years in my .223. After it happened, I removed the firing pin from my T3 bolt and to me it looks OK. It's still smooth and round on the end. The was no carbon or other residue on it. The bolt face was clean with no marks at all. The bullet even hit where it was supposed to. I fired the remaining 12 rounds I had with me and had no issues. So, do I need to get the rifle checked by a gunsmith or is this a minor thing?
  15. Does anyone have an Evolve Moderator? I need a new .30 cal mod for my RPR and this one actually fits where others don't. I was told they are made by Atec but can't find much info on them. I know my local gun shop will replace it if it sucks but I don't want to buy it if people know of problems with them.
  16. That'll be why then. Doesn't make much actual difference either way. I used to seat 77gn SMK using COAL then switched to CBTO because people said I was an idiot and saw no difference on the target.
  17. Where are you measuring? I've found them very consistent from base to ogive.
  18. If you have a small amount of technical ability and £30, you can host your own images for free (after the £30 pi purchase) with a raspberry pi and simple instructions like these... https://www.instructables.com/id/Host-your-website-on-Raspberry-pi/ and stick it to the hosting companies who charge.
  19. This is a friend's pic. Shouldn't be public I don't think.
  20. I just went to the full size image on Facebook and copied the address in the browser then pasted it into the post here. It also works in the insert image from URL in the insert other media button in PMs. My privacy settings in FB are as locked down as you can get.
  21. Just checking if you can use the link to Facebook hosted images Looks like you can so you should be able to in PMs
  22. I remeasure every 1000 rounds. It's an arbitrary number that sometimes yields no change but that's what I've decided on. I'm not one for buying new things just because they're new.
  23. I found when I was using one, I could feel the bullet entering the freebore as very slight resistance. I could also feel it hit the lands. Depending on the instructions used which vary greatly from pushing until you feel any resistance to push it firmly until it stops, you can get up to 2mm difference. Also rifles with differing leade angles present even more variation when using feel. I stopped using the Hornady tool when I borrowed a bore scope and watched the bullet from the muzzle side and realised at how many points you can feel something without it actually touching anything.
  24. And get the same results as much cheaper factory ammo.
