Edi How did you like the reticle (P5)? SB info says the center dot subtension is 0.7 cm at 100m. This is double the thickness of the P4 fine.

FFP and mil/mil. for me much easier to use, straight conversions from angle to distannce other way around.

I am sorry if this topic has been covered but could not find the thread. I have seen a post where Laurie said the US Lapua team could not find a good load for the 6,5 136L some years ago . Apart from the slight price difference, are the L´s better or more finicky to tune? The 136 has a lower BC than the 139 , and the 155´s seem to be similar. 139´s are still available and they have worked well for me in the past in 6,5 x 55 and 65-284. Old 155´s seem harder to find. So is it worth to change? thanks

But for a 20” barrel you may want to use slightly faster powders

I would recommend 140 grain bullets. The old amax 140 worked well for target shooting and small game up to roedeer/goats. The newer 140ELDM is also good but expands noticeablybless. For red deer I would use a specific hunting bullet like 143eldx, 140 nosler accubond or similar. Scenars 139 are also great for target shooting. Any powder in the range of vectan t7000, 4350, vihta 160/165 will work.

I wonder if someone has used the scenar 175 in a 308? the sierra 175 was always a good bullet but I see that prices are up recently-at least in my area-. The bc for 308 speeds is very similar in both bullets. Thanks

I tried the N160 with Scenar 139 and the Hornady ELDM 140, small primer Lapua brass, Murom primers. Lapua SP brass, Scenar 139, V 160 42,5 grains= 2578 ft/s. Lapua SP brass, Hornady 140 ELDM, 42 grains=2498 ft/s. 24" barrel. A little disappointing. Either I go for bigger loads or try RS62 ( RS62 is single base , right??)

If boar or deer will be hunted in driven hunts I would go with the 308 for sure. in stalking situations,as has been said, there will not be a lot of difference in ballistics up to 300-400m depending on bullet use. For light game like roedeer I like the 6,5 better. If you plan shooting boar and red deer I would opt for the 308. And if ranges will be past 400m or so, think about a better ballistics 30 cal or a 7 cal.

What about n165? With 140g bullets.

A friend shoots 208 amax and 208eld in a Tikka which I believe has a 1/11 twist. they work very well, but have seen him shoot only up to 900 yds. Bullets were stable abd accurate so they should make it to 1000 with no problem. Powder was tubal 8000.
