    Sad news: Bradders.

I first met Mark over twenty years ago at the birth of what was to become CSR, we had shot with smellies before in LERA matches and here we were about to shoot alongside the army with the aid of Pete Bloom who had made it possible. Mark had a converted AR15 while a lot of us had No.4's, we all thought using an AR15 was a bit gamey at the time...or was it envy? One of Mark's greater achievements which appears to be overlooked in the wake of his death was overcoming the glaucoma in his shooting eye. He simply started using the other eye and shoulder by building a left handed AR and recorded some very commendable scores with it in the process. Yes he could be infuriating to some but his generosity knew no bounds, I turned up for a CSR shoot a couple of years ago and he just gave me 150 rounds of RG to shoot the match with. He also once accused me of invading his country; (he was a native of Belfast) after a few short words we agreed to our own style of Good Friday agreement which I have to say appears to have lasted better than the one Tony Blair put his name to!

I'm another who didn't see eye to eye with Mark.....however, that didn't stop me buying one of his .22 semi AR's, and it is one of my favourite rifles 👍

If the undercut was too deep the moderator could blow off the end taking the thread with it , bits of shrapnel could fly around , I wouldnt want to be standing next to it. You could argue that modern rifles dont need proofing at as they have a proven design but then not every rifle passes proof.

It would cover whoever had done the work better than someone who hadn't bothered to get it proofed .

And that wouldn't be checked or found out by the proof house.....

    Labradar Chronograph

I would be surprised if there is....after all there is hardly a realistic upgrade path short of many thousands of pounds.

    Waterproof Trousers

Anyone got any suggestions for good waterproof trousers? I don’t mean over trousers just a pair that can be worn for shooting, walking or working in and preferably uninsulated (I like to be overly warm) Cheers

If a bad or inexperienced gunsmith went too deep on undercut it would definitely weaken the end of the barrel , add a big heavy moderator and you could be in for some fireworks.

No , they did get an ambiguous report on moderators however.
  17. FC Brass received, thanks James👍. Have a bump for your Winchester brass

RIP Mark, thanks for all you contributed to UK shooting and beyond. We will think of you often during the CSR seasons ahead.

That was my understanding also. I recently has a CZ527 in 22 hornet shortened and threaded, by a smith who builds and shoots F class rifles and the subject of reproof was never even discussed. On a modern rifle which was proofed when new, can anyone describe a set of circumstances under which chopping the barrel by a couple of inches and rethreading it for a moderator can weaken the barrel to the point of failure? Cheers Bruce

Have Jackson Rifles not already disproved the need for re-proofing on end of barrel work such as shortening -screw cutting - re-crowning. I know in our area a very well experienced gun-smith stopped sending such work to the proof-house.
