Best Wellies?

Just had my wellies give up the ghost. Before I reflexively buy another pair of Aigles (not posh ones, just buckle and 'normal' lining); is there anything people would recommend as being 'better', or 'same, but cheaper', out there?

There is nothing better or worse in my opinion

None of them live up to the real world - none of them are value for money

They (none of them) are not made for real work

I use Agle - they are OK - but nothing represents the 'holy grail'

Yup, that about matches my view. I suppose the focus should be 'same but cheaper'.

Yup - I still buy aigles but in reality I should buy cheap and regular - broccoli to the ads and fake imagery

I'm having a bit of a rant coz of general disappointments all over the board

We - the practical folk - should listen to what we the people say - I for one enjoy your input on a variety of subjects Brown Dog

Im a dairy farmer so I spend the best part of my life in wellies.

Top spot I would have to say are the buckbootz from buckler, they are quite warm and light. I have had 3 pair over the last 2 years and cant fault them only the price seemed to rise drasticly when I went to buy another new pair a month ago.

This time I have bought bekina steplites and I have to say these are very good too, maybe not just as warm as the bucklers but not bad.

I wouldnt wear a cheap wellie as there is no support in them and they almost feel like slippers!

Hunters........ way over priced and overrated.

I use Le Chameau Vierzonord for shooting, beating, walking, driving and everything else. Comfortable and long lasting (for me) They are the only wellies I can wear for 12 hour stints and still be able to walk in at the end.

Have been using a pair of Seeland, with side bucks of the past 3 years, very warm, superb chunky grippy vibram sole unit, have used them for mountain work too, infact the other week I was delivering a nav' course for some bearded types who shouldn't be here, and decided to wear my wellies, much to the laughs from he chaps, but guess who was warm dry feet and also got up those steep mountain slopes without sliding around? yep it was me! haha.

I cant say enough about the Snowbee Rockhoppers , apart from been black they have tungsten spikes in the soles brilliant for greasy tree stumps and slimy rocks also very warm.

I dont go for top brand names Ive 2 pairs of these boots for 6 years still as good as new, one pair was cut down to fit my breathable waders.

Trago Mills here in South West. £8 pair of green Dunlop somethings. Good height/ length. Good enough for Cornwall c**p!!

Well, I’m sitting having fish and chips next to Trago in Falmouth right now and, frankly, don’t fancy your chances of finding much in their clutter!

I've had a pair of entry level Le Chameau for over 10 years now. They've worn incredibly well, are super comfy, have never leaked and have a grippy vibram sole. I think back then I paid about £75 or so for them, but don't know if the modern ones are the same/as good/worse. I've walked miles in them over some rough country in some pretty awful weather when shooting. Their current entry level ones "Le Chameu Country" look a lot like mine but mine don't have the buckles. They do seem a lot of dosh now though for what they are. I think that the Hoggs of Fife Field Sport Neoprene lined boots might be where I head when mine wear out...they're really similar looking but a lot less than the current Le Chameau line.
