Field to Range 6.5 has landed

Recommended Posts

As of yesterday, now the proud new owner of this little set up:

Tikka T3 Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor, 24 inch barrel.

Glass is Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR with G2 Ret. Enough adjustment to get out past 1200 yards with ease.

Rings are the new Burris Signature with up to 45 moa adjustment using the self-aligning ring inserts. A really solid well made set of rings but a right PITA to set up!.

Mod is Aimsports's Aimzonic Triton. Despite Stainless internals, it weighs just 210g.

That was one expensive trip out but hoping it'll be worth it. Build quality for the rifle/scope/rings and mods all seems top drawer.

For the bullets, I've chosen 139gr Lapua Scenar L's for target and Hornady SST 140gr for hunting.

Load dev to come...

You've swiped my rifle!!

Bar the scope, as i have Leupold rings and a Vortex.

I've only fired, a box of 20 Hornady 140 grain ELD-M. I'll load my own from now, considering that box was nearly £40!!

I'm really chuffed with the Aim Sport Moderator too, and contrary to another members conclusions it came slightly loose on the first 2 shots. Them no problems..... Although the moderator does get quite hot compared to the barrel....

But jeepers am i chuffed with my rifle too! :D

I think that we bought from the same outfit Chaz. Not yet had a chance to put it through its paces but looking forward to it. I went with the DMR as I was so impressed with my earlier model DMR but the G2 ret is a big improvement over the mildot on my other one which although good, is just a little too heavy at max magnification.

A professional equivalent of mine is just getting into shooting and has bought the 6.5CM Tac with an ATAC-R and DPT mod. Is really lashing out with Swaro RF binos, AnD 120 with auto trickler, Redding comp die set, ....... I'd guess he's spent ~8K already and still going strong, this before his firearms licence has even arrived. Dead keen.

He's been asking me for advice on options. Luckily money is no object so I'm not suggesting cr@p

Sounds like someone with no money problems Chris!

What impresses me about the TAC A1, even before a shot is fired is how good it id to handle. It hides its weight really well. I have no idea what mine weighs in at all told (perhaps 14 lbs?) but I'd have no problems carrying it over my shooting land at all, especially with the Flyye Single Point sling fitted.

Looks great.

What you need to finish your spending spree and compliment that Chassis is a Phoenix top mounted bipod.

LoL....I agree and would love one but am all spent out. It is on my list but will have to wait until next year. Meantime, I was going to make do with one of these:

Great scope (and rig). Looks better with the sunshade on. Watch the very soft turret screws they chew up like bugger

Thanks Dave. I have another DMR which has been on the .308 for a year or so and I've not experienced anything chewed up on that one, but the cap retaining screw head slots are a bit wide which makes finding something suitable to do them up a bit awkward. I have something suitable which I keep in my range box in case I need to alter zero. Would have liked the ERS model with Zero-stop but not at £400 more!
