New Schmidt?

This scope has been available since at least February 2016. Nothing new here. Stop getting your knickers in a twist.

S&B should be spending more time fulfilling orders than farting about bringing out new scopes that are only overlapping or duplicating what they already offer, yet can't produce or deliver

Being available and being available are two different things

I ordered two 1.5-8x26 Short Dots last year

I was told 3 months...I got the first one after 7 months and the second one after 11 months.

This was despite being repeatedly told "two weeks" by Schmidt

I have another on order for a customer. It was ordered on 3rd April and we were told 3 months.

On 17th July we were told it should be with us in 2 weeks (starting to sound like the woman on Mars in Total Recall)

So this is now 6 weeks overdue from the last overdue date, so forgive me if I am more than a little cheesed off with ze Germans

Tell you what, if you feel so strongly, then why don't you place an order for that scope pictured and see if it actually ever turns up?

German efficiency my arse

S+B delivery is a not very funny joke.

My own CQB scope was promised in 2 months....it took nearer 7 as I recall.

I won't order them anymore, because there is only so much earache you can put up with from the customer.

But S&B have the time and money to have a stand the size of a football pitch at the IWA, priorities

But folks still view them as the best thing since sliced bread?

V-odd

Or am I just cynical?

Schmidt scopes are high quality, certainly one of, if not the best available and they are probably fulfilling military procurements ahead of civvy orders. Highly frustrating for the recreational shooter and suppliers I know but with the relative volumes I know what i'd be doing were I S&B.

Mike,

Completely agree that this would be the correct business decision, but if it was the 'decision' then the honourable thing to do is be honest with 'the little people' re. deliveries etc.

i.e.: The best index to a persons character is how he treats people who can't do him any good, and how he treats people who can't fight back.” - this is also applicable to companies

I had heard of this and a couple of other issues before the OP so S&B would not now be a scope I would consider, but that is a personal choice.

Terry, I completely agree, merely pointing out the probably reason for the slow supply. My biggest gripe with suppliers is the lack of communication and transparency - if they are struggling to meet delivery times then communicate that to the customer. Chances are the customer will appreciate the update and choose to stay with the product.

Schmidt obviously haven't got this concept.

I spoke to the S&B reps on their stand, taking the opportunity to enquire as to the thread size on the bell housing so that I could procure a cheap photographic lens to protect the front end glass.

To my amazement ............. they didn't know

They did however know where to point me to their catalogue to buy one of their filters, probably at an amazing price.

Not impressed.
