Tikka T3 action for tactical build

Now that my Fclass rifle is done, I'm thinking of a tactical build on the new MDT LSS chassis w carbine butt stock and Vortex Razor 4.5-27 scope.

Would you recommend a tikka T3 action for a tactical rifle build? i'm looking at a s/h action with a bartlein 24" barrel fluted for a 260rem or 6.5creedmoor on a tikka t3 action. I read that these are available also in short action but can't seem to find any. Do they require any truing like the rem700s or are they good to go?

T3 - one action length - long.

You may build a short or ling action compatible rifle using the same action - just swop magazine to suit the required length.

Ive built several T3 base rifles for various applications.

All shot very well, some have required truing but they have been a minority.

The smooth feeding, consistant extraction eject of the tikka bolt makes a good set up for rapid fire (in comparison to the manual eject - contact push type)

The triggers are very good and withstand dirt well - easy to clean and strip if necessary.

Mags are availble from factory for 5 or 3 round and if useing AICS compatible bottom metal 10 round mags are an option.

Perhaps consider a T3 CTR....?

Wuite a few builds done in the states on the T3 for "tactical" matches.

As Ronin says, all T3s are the same length so can accommodate short and long action rounds. The right magazine along with the correct bolt stop and bolt face will allow you to use a wide range of calibers.

Personally I dont feel they need to be blueprinted to shoot very well, accuracy comes far more from the right caliber choice, barrel, good load development and many other areas before any minor issues with an action would hold you back. Im winning 1000 yard benchrest matches in the UKBRA series with a 20+yr old Tikka 590 action, it was cleaned and fitted to a barrel, the thought to even try to measure its concentricity didn't enter my head.

Hi xl

I have got a few custom Surgeon's and purchased a .223 t3 for CSR type shooting and can't believe what a smooth well made action it is for ithe money I don't think you would go wrong with one.

Cheers Paul
