Ro6.5
Hi, Can anyone tell me will a barrel from a Remington 700 fit on to a stiller predator with little work? They are both short action 308 bolt face. I have a very lightly used 22.250 barrel on a rem 700 and I am wanting to put it on my stiller predator action but wondered what work would be involved of if it would be a case of screw one off and screw one on with it been a Remington clone. I understand that the headspace will have to be set but are the threads the same on both actions? Thanks. Ro6.
Danpd
Both actions use 1.0625 x 16 tpi threads and if you use a Stiller .187 thick recoil lug the headspace will be within a few thou. The bolt nose counterbore may need to be increased in diameter to clear the extractor, and ideally you want the barrel markings timed up to look right. It's possible, but questionable whether it's worthwhile just to use a factory grade tomato stake.
