What scope mounts are people running elevation wise, is 6 mils enough to stretch out the distance? I notice that the pm2 is getting near top end of adjustment at about 1400 ish but I'm worried that more elevation is going to affect the view through the scope . Also are people using taller rings to help with the recoil ? ( raised butt pad etc)

Gluv,

Not idea on your load obviously but taking this info as a starting point: http://www.accuracy1...ocs/binder7.pdf

It looks like 8 mil to a 1000 yards and 18mil to a mile or there abouts

The S&B 5-25 DT has 25mil of elevation (you do not state which S&B you are using) so a 6 mil base will not hurt anything, possibly more depending on how your scope is re. View when near the bottom of its elevation?

If you are worried or 'really' wanting to get out there get hold of something like the TacomHQ scope booster or a quality adjustable base perhaps?

I have 30 MOA on my 338 AX. Works fine with a March 5-40x 56 fx scope.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.

Interesting, I was worried about having the view obscured with that much incline .
The 1-11 barrel on the Aw doesn't really lend itself to the heavy rounds and extreme distance but I'm just trying to give myself as much usable adjustment as possible

What I would do is buy a Spuhr isms mount from either Dave at Valkyrie Rifles or Graeme at Sporting Services. They should be able to recommend the appropriate height and cant to suit your scope as AI service centre and AI dealer and Graeme stocks the Spuhr mounts.

Spuhr is not cheap but worth the money, I have one on my AX and it is head and shoulders better than the AI mount on my AW 308. The 338 AWSM works best with 250 grain pills - the barrel twist plus none CIP mag length did not work for me either with the 285 grain Hornady A max when I had one. Try 250 grain Berger OTM hybrids and Lapua Scenars.

Also I would not go for a high scope mount as there is quite limited "up" adjustment with the butt plate.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.
