7mm Rem mag

I was looking to build a .284 Win but the action I have got appears to be slightly to long for reliable mag feeding, I thinking of going 7mm Rem and using 175 grain Scenars has anyone used this calibre and have any true details on Barrel life.

Not got one myself but guys I know that hunt with one have between 1000 and 2000 rounds.

If your target shooting Don't expect more than 1000.

that's what I thought I know it's not a popular choice for a 7mm but I think it will feed more reliably than a .284 or wsm.

7x64 is worth a look at, or 280Rem, a lot more barrel life than a 7 Rem mag and only 150 or so fps less velocity depending on barrel length.

Don't know who's told you that Paul, but the XL is a fine action for a .284. It will feed perfectly from a slightly tweaked .300 win mag magazine.

The XL will obviously have to have the .308 bolt face for a .284.

The 7mm rem mag uses the magnum bolt face.

Thanks for your input chaps I have tweaked my mag and changed the angle of the top and it's loading perfectly so a .284 is still an option.
