Tuck Posted July 31, 2017 Report Share Posted July 31, 2017 Hi all, thinking about buying a new lampong light, as my old lightforce has seen better days, what are people using nowadays? I gather things have moved on quite a lot with Hid bulbs etc, and I see other lamps advertised as cordless? Do these lights last long enough for an evenings lamping? Both run on two 18650s and you get an hour of solid running from a pair of the top 3500 Panasonics (Maxtoch also rebrand these to their own label). The cells will last a lot longer on the lower power settings. Believe me, they walk all over a 170 Lightforce, even the slightly smaller M24. I have both and use the M24 on the rifle and the 2X as a hand-held. Deer at 300yds are fully lit up and are easily distinguishable at over 500yds. You'd need to run them on a lower power setting for small stuff under 200yds. The big thing about them is that the centre beam has extreme reach but there's enough flood on the periphery to quickly scan paddocks.. They run on 2x 18650s but I can't stress enough to get top batteries. Do not believe the capacity ratings of generic Chinese cells- total BS. The max you can get is the 3500 Panasonics. 17 squirrel Posted August 6, 2017 Report Share Posted August 6, 2017 Hi Tuck. i am using a cluson clu-briter it's cordless ( Personally i wouldn't go back to corded) has main/ dip beam and also a disco mode. I would say it's probably the best light i've had for all situations. I also like Cluson stuff, you can phone them up and they know their products inside out. BuckhurstBen Posted August 10, 2017 Report Share Posted August 10, 2017 Hi, Although I go out with the thermal more often than not now you still can't beat lamping for covering ground, especially after grass and crops have come off and bunny bashing. I have two lightforce hid roof mounted strikers with the 75w 5000k bulbs. They throw an awesome beam although the bulbs are expensive when they fade I would recommend them. They say anything with a higher capacity rating will almost inevitably be rubbish. The worst you can do is some of the more generic Chinese ones.
