What can I legally bring back from the states?

Hi all,

What can I legally bring back from the states? I'll be with my family so looking for 0-hassle items, or I guess I can post them to myself

As I understand:

Nothing military (aimpoints, acogs, magpul)

No magazines

Nothing over $100?

No scopes over 9x?

Items I am specifically thinking of are:

For the AR:

Luth-AR stock and grip

Possibly a new buffer tube etc

New quad rail

BAD lever

Charging handle

Some sort of light 1-8ish scope

Other:

Boyds Stock for my CZ .22

Bullet heads and brass?

I don't see bringing any of that would be a problem with HMRC if you have an FAC, however the Yanks may have a different view on export.

I'm not too worried about this end as they could all be for Airsoft use (with the exception of the heads and brass) it's more what I can't bring out under ITAR or without an export license

You can't send Brass and Heads in the post or with TNT/DHL (I tried and they got bounced back to sender) but I think (for prersonal use) you can hand carry/bring them home.

You can not legally take brass or bullets back to the uk from the states

Is that an "export" rule or an "import" restriction ?

Might be moot anyway as actually brownells aren't that horrendously expensive with the dollar rate at the moment

this is what came up at £389 when I googled brownells luth ar

https://www.brownells.co.uk/AR-15/M16-LUTH-AR-STOCK-KITS

But once I worked through their awful website I found they're only £155

Thank you, that is a constructive answer and I hadn't thought of asking them directly.

It depends what you are trying to export as below.

Most firearms and ammunition must be exported in accordance with the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act of 1976. Regulations implementing this Act generally require a license to be obtained from the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Additional information may be accessed online at: http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/index.html.

The export of sporting shotguns and ammunition for sporting shotguns is regulated by the U.S. Department of Commerce. An export license is generally needed to export these shotguns and ammunition. For further information, contact the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security. Contact information may be found online at: http://www.bis.doc.gov/.

DIRECTORATE OF DEFENSE TRADE CONTROLS: Section 38 of the Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. 2778).

Speak with the DOJ too. They are the ones who are going to decide whether to prosecute you. If they say they won't then that's helpful to know...

Just fancy giving something different a shot for a change, have you tried it out? If so could you explain why you don't like it?

And no, unfortunately the .22 went to a new owner, was wonderful but I couldn't justify keeping it at the time
