Jock308
Hi Needing some advice, I have this problem with my 243 Remy 700 and my 2 308 Remys in AX and AICS chasis, the bullets when loaded to close to mag length tend to stick under the feed ramp, have looked through the internet and I think this is a common problem. They all shoot very well at mag length (10 shot mags). Any advice on whether to remove the slightest metal from the feed ramp to allow better feeding of longer (2.95 ish bullets) Have tried standard length bullets but the guns don't like them as much, all 3 remys are factory barrels. Any gunsmiths on here do that to Remys when they are in an AICS/AX chasis? Regards Jim
Ronin
You can remove the stiffening plate thats spot welded to the mag (at the join) and re weld the metal together without the plate. That adds about .050" available mag space.

Like the action below, at front of magazine cut out a small indent to allow better feeding of AICS mag length bullets
Ronin
The action in the image looks like a Surgeon 591 and is possibly the WSM variant with inlet for over length bullets. It is something ive done before - milling a small cut out in the lower section of the feed ramp - take too much and you waste the action.... Any gun maker with a mill could do the work for you. Cumbrian 1
If you apply pressure upwards on the magazine does it feed? I had the same problem on a long action remmy clone and it was caused by the magazine being too low and if I applied pressure upwards it would feed flawlessly David Wylde aka Baldie extended the magazine release catch so the mag sat higher. No once stuck the only solution is to remove the mag, cannot even move the bullet backwards to release as they are almost the same length as the magazine. I have been reading about this problem and AI recommend max COAL of 2.88in for AICS mags, think I went from approx 2.95in to 2.8in and the shorter bullets were not as accurate, will try them at 2.88in and hopefully they will be better than 2.8in. Will try everything before removing metal. Thanks
Scotch_egg
Just have the feed ramp milled like the action in the photo. It's a common thing to have done if you remove the plate at the front of an AICS magazine.
