oal has jack to do with it .depends what your chasing .i have shot straight out of the box if factory chamber many timrs no problem.worst case you might get a tiny bit less accuracy. worth running callipers accross the necks to check there the same size.

Lapua brass has very good uniformity from the get-go box. There is about as much chance of making it less good with mediocre tools /skill than of improving it -it's seldom broke, don't try to fix it-have a look if it makes you feel better.(eg flash holes are typically near perfect-don't ream unless you can see some 'swarf'-very unlikely in Lapua)

Load it (1st isn't a 'reload'-it is a home load)After a few firings, you can check the specs-as you would be wise to do with any brass.

You might have a look and see if you can detect any change on targets from first firing-again,about as likely poor techniques will reduce performance as enhance it....basically it'll still be as good.It was very good from factory, and the parametes that matter won't get worse-anymore than other brands-they all stretch length for example,so eventually need a trim....

The Lapua brass should last longer too-especially in sensible level reloads.

Just load it up from the factory box. It's very good stuff. Usual checks after firings as with ANY brass. (And COAL-that's a bullet variation issue, not brass-but it's interesting to see how mediocre bullets can vary more than, say,Bergers.

Note-it's not uncommon for wildcat fire forming loads with high class brass to actually shoot very well indeed,in those fire forming loads-despite the non ideal chamber fit etc....but that's another issue......

With the better quality manufactures you shouldn't really need to, but.... I always do just as a matter of cause.

Full length size and check length but you shouldn't need to trim.

Do new cases need to be resized? I bought 100 Lapua cases brand new, just wondering if need to factory resize these before a reload?

For new out of the box cases consider using a neck expander, if nothing else, for neck consistency. This is regardless of neck turning.

There are others such as K&M, 21st Century.

Size and trim and chamfer new brass.

Factory fresh brass won't fit my chamber so needs trimmed, and no matter how well packaged brass is there is without fail dented necks.

As gbal says, you can shoot Lapua brass straight out of the box. You may find some with slight neck dings. Just sort them and use them as blow offs.

Whether it's coincidence or not, I always get best results from brand new Lapua brass straight out of the box.
