We spent an excellent day at an informal shoot at Catton Park on Saturday. The weather was good, the food excellent - especially the venison burgers - and the oomans present made for good company. We were busy banging away at a 450 mard steel fox silhouette with our Finnish M28/76 in 7.62x54R, clattering it every time despite using Tula surplus machine gun rounds. These have a charge weight of 47 - 50 gns as the Soviets used this dispersion to ensure a good beaten zone. Designated marksman rifle ammunition for the Dragunov comes off the same production line but is loaded more tightly, 47.2 gns +/- 0.2 gns.

After a while we were joined by several other shooters, one of whom was using a very nice looking Remington 700 chambered in .260 and wearing a black AICS style stock. Apparently it was a couple of years old but looked like new and shot very well. In fact whilst we were watching it didn't miss a single target. You probably won't be surprised, as we weren't either, to learn that it was made by Baldie...

Thank you meles meles, twas I with the 260. ;-)

It's a good day out, very informal all about having fun. Must say though you've added a few yards on the blue fox. Lol

Had a laugh last year I shot a face on a newly sprayed muntjac at 400. 2 eye's a nose and started the smile, but pulled a the 3rd shot and gave it 2 noses.
