Biathlonjimmy
I'm looking for advice as to which buttstock to pair with a MDT TAC21 or HS3 chassis. The scope is a 56mm NSX sat on either the integral rail or a Tier One 20 moa rail. For this reason I need a fully adjustabe stock to raise the cheekpiece. Thanks in advance, James
Major Disorder
Tradition would dictate either the MDT Skeleton Stock or a Magpul PRS. Both great stocks.
Biathlonjimmy
Tradition would dictate either the MDT Skeleton Stock or a Magpul PRS. Both great stocks. Thanks MD. What is the range of vertical adjustment on the cheek piece for each? Best, J
DW58
You haven't said which rifle is to go into the proposed chassis, but please bear in mind that the combination of Tac21 chassis and MDT skelton stock is pretty heavy in its own right - I had this combination with a Tikka T3 24" Super Varmint in .300 WSM which when coupled with a Tier Unimount and Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST made for a damned heavy rifle circa 16.5lbs, although it soaked up the recoil pretty well. We've just packed the whole shop into a van ready for The Phoenix tomorrow.
Biathlonjimmy
You haven't said which rifle is to go into the proposed chassis, but please bear in mind that the combination of Tac21 chassis and MDT skelton stock is pretty heavy in its own right - I had this combination with a Tikka T3 24" Super Varmint in .300 WSM which when coupled with a Tier Unimount and Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST made for a damned heavy rifle circa 16.5lbs, although it soaked up the recoil pretty well. Rob, Coincidently it will be to support a T3x .300WSM varmint, Leupold PRW rings, Nightforce 5.5-22 NSX. Undecided whether to use the wildcat mod or just use a - brake I have. My .308 is cut the same so interchangeable between both. Weight may be an issue, I have carried it in its current form (as above but in factory stock + harris bipod) up and down hills in Scotland after goats and hinds. It weights 16lbs inc mod at the moment and I did feel it but half the problem was the sling. The plus side of the chassis is being able to mount a biathlon style sling on the side which would make it feel a lot lighter having spread the weight. Your setup looks spot on. Which pistol grip did you go for? Thanks, James
Scotch_egg
I have seen the XLR butt used on the MDT and thought it looked excellent. I believe the weight is reasonable as well.
