Zaitsev
Has this been done/is it possible? I recall an old thread on this subject but can I find it??
Chanonry
Better informed people than me but the chat was a double stacker is not possible. AICS or similar is. Certainly bottom metal for sale out of the US for metal DM
MrCetrizine
The best method I think is a chassis like KRG or MDT. My T3 is in a KRG XRay and uses AICS mags.

ejg223
If aics type or CTR work 100% reliable why AW? edi

ChrisF
The Tikka T3 was designed for single feed posn , any thing else is maybe problematic . The Sako 75/85 series rifles run a double feed magazine , and its maybe feasible to mod this rifle to use the excellent AW mags . Just for the people who donot know , the external dimensions for the mag well for the AW & AICS mags , are the same , difference is in the height into the action the bottom metal places the round for feeding , in reguards the 2 different mags , ie double feed/single feed . Zaitsev
Yes. Double stack for lower profile and top feed of rounds whilst magazine is in situ. I've had M55/65a tikka with 10rd mags and they stick out an awful long way. Also had TRG which despite being double stack was single feed. The sako 75 (as you say Chris) has ds/df mags which are very good. The only slight downside is that -to my knowledge- they never made 10rounders. Obvs the 10 rders are redundant for most sporting applications but on the odd occasion they are required and it's good to have the option.
ejg223
Just get a CTR.... and you just about have what you want. For hunting I prefer the slightly shorter 5 shot aics type mag. With aics mag bottom metal you at least have the choice of the ultra reliable 5 shot AI mag, the plastic 9 shot mdt. plenty options from other manufacturers. I only had bad experience with double feed mags, overall reliability was not close to single feed. edi
Danpd
FYI there will be double stack single feed 10rd magazines with similar dimensions to AW mags available from American Rifle Company soon that will give you 10rd capability without either having to use ridiculously overpriced TRG magazines or having to butcher your action. https://www.americanrifle.com/product/arc-mag-10-round-7-62x51-308-win/

I was going to get a Tikka CTR but they have expensive mags and from YouTube posts they can be loose with feeding problems. Or do I need to replace the bottom metal too? Kind regards Phil

Kind regards Phil Hi Phil, These will replace the AI magazines not the TRG ones, so to use these in a T3 you would need a stock or chassis that accepted AI magazines like the KRG X-ray.
