can i pinch a picture Laurie?

Sure, Mark. I've two or three worth sending on. To your business email address? (If not, PM me an alternative.)

Laurie sent me a few more photos and Les Holgate's balding pate seems to have photobombed into the shot again. The 6BR 'monster' didn't do too well as it was pretty windy with switching winds worth around 5 minutes or so. Should have put the .284 barrel on it maybe. But a good day out albeit a long one for the butts crew in the afternoon.

Roll on the next comp.

Cheeky young whippersnapper!

I'll have you know we 'Heavy Gun' types are all too regularly humiliated by young (10 years old) Emily Lenton. (Mole-e30's daughter.) Three generations of the Lenton family usually compete.

That's a great beauty of Benchrest - open and equal opportunities to all irrespective of age, state of health, and whether able-bodied or disabled.

nice to see a ruger precision rifle getting in on the action not just the rich boys toys ;)

Alan Seagrave (on right of photo') regularly wins the 'Factory' class in these events with an out of the box Tikka T3 Varmint in 6.5X55mm. I was speaking to him on Sunday and it has 2,500 ('hot') rounds through it. PTA Savages are usually very competitive in this class and like Alan's Tikka have been known to take smallest group of the day (amongst all classes) and seriously challenge custom rifle shooters in the other classes.

After several years of trying, Paul Crosbie managed to finally get a 'Long-Range Celtic Challenge' FTR team match off the ground at the Glen Tilt, Blair Atholl range some three or four years ago as an add-on to the annual SRA Long-Range Championship weekend matches. That was Scotland v Wales v Republic of Ireland.

He's not tried since - just too logistically difficult as you say.

It would be fantastic to have a England V Wales comp.. In saying that, even better, include Scotland & Ireland and have '4 nations shooting comp'

Probably logistically imposible

but then we will have to listen to the welsh harping on about the 70's again :D

It is indeed, Laurie, but I think I might have to trade it in for one which is less like a smurfs chappeau!!!!

Looking forward to the next one.

Great selection of pics, by the way, Laurie.

Cheers

Paul
