It's pretty widely used in the BR - excellent bullet and if the reports on the latest production lots which are factory 'pointed' are to be believed, their consistency is now excellent. There are probably more people shooting 105s Bergers though, both VLD and Hybrid.

I've always jumped them starting at 15 thou' out and rarely had to change, but seem people get better results by putting them into the lands a little, somewhere between 5 and 15 thou'. As always, it's down to what your barrel / chamber like.

Good glad there working for you !iv tried 50 thou to touching , but I'm thinking about further jump_ or not waist anymore time as got 107 smk on way and hopefully the eld 108 won't be far away into the country i hope. Thanks for your reply guys

I used the SMK 107s in my 6br. I'm running at 20 thou off. I tested in 10 thou jumps and then tested either side of the of the best group although I ended up back at 20 thou as it was significantly the best group.

Perhaps I should put a rider on the above by saying I had a better groups at 10 thou off with a higher load, however I wanted more than 2 firings from a case so I accepted a slightly worse group for case longevity.

May i ask what free bore you have ? And what was your col ? Iv just worked out the 107mk touching lands in mine is 2367 . But i have a .104 fb .

On another note , at work today thought id have a search for load data and it took me to Accurate shooter , jees some guys were loading 31.5 grain of Varget behind the 107mk ... Now curious i went on quikLoad and pluged in data and my max (RED ZONE) seemed to be 29.8 -plus so 29.0 should be about top load in mine.

Is anyone using Varget & 107mk , im curious to know what your charge is ? Atb tim.

Tim,

My col is 2.338" with a base to ogive of 1.7735". I'm using 29.6gns of N150. Unfortunately no idea what the freebore is as it's a factory barrel.

The other thing to remember when using QuickLoad is to change the start initiation pressure when you are on the lands. It adds around 7,000psi to the chamber pressure!

Hope this helps.

It's in the top right input box of the main page - ie the one you use to select powder and charge weight. Just above the charge weight line is a box that is named 'Shot Start (Initiation) Pressure' with a value in it whose default is 3,626 psi

That's the value for a jacketed lead core bullet that is jumped. If you hold the cursor over the 3,626 figure a list of bullet types and whether jumped or jammed comes up and you can manually alter the value in the box.

Did you ever work out a load for the 107gr HPBTM? I have found a load of these at the back of my cupboard and since my .243AI doesn't like them the 6BR might be a way to use them up!
