25-45 Sharps.

I already have the dies and a reamer, and a Brux blank in the post, so will look for a cheap action and get one built up.

I asked the question because of doubts over velocity claims in the USA, where A2200 seems the prefered powder for 87 grain bullets. Does anybody know which powder available in the U.K. Come nearest to A2200 burn rate?

Too late to turn back now!

Thanks to MrCetirizine for your reply.

A few of the Lovex powders had direct Accurate powder equivalents but I've not seen a 2200 Accurate before?

Why is this cartridge sold as a 'Sharps' - it is diametrically opposed to a Sharp's as you can possibly get? :)

Ps what's it for?

Sharps say the 25-45 Sharps( As apposed to 25/223) will, when using a 24 inch barrel, mirror the ballistics of the original Savage 250-3000 cartridge, I.E. 3000 fps with an 87 grain bullet, producing 1739 ft lbs. Therefore making it legal for 6 species of deer in England and Wales.

The savage case being bigger, I fail to see how this will pan out.

Regards,Ken.
